I think there should be moderation whenever there is an observation of anything done in excess. Being moderate could help checkmate ones activities and making sure they are at equilibrium.  Doing this could help one control themselves whenever they notice that they have crossed their limits or boundaries as the case may be but however, being discipline could play a good role by helping to enforce good manners.
You’re absolutely correct, discipline is everything when it come to enforcing good manners or regulating one’s behaviours and habits to ensure that things don’t get out of hand or become excessive. If you observe or check very well, you’ll notice that majority of people who end up struggling with addiction or allow a certain habit they have to spiral out of control are those who actually lacks discipline, so much that they even see nothing wrong in doing something that they shouldn’t ordinarily be seen doing simply because they have the freedom to do it and this could result to so many things, and then family support may come in.

When it comes to discipline, most people do not have clues on how to discipline themselves, they just do short and limited stay-off tactics without any modalities to checkmate themselves and after the stay-off time, they continue from where they stop and are not mature and strong enough to control or discipline themselves. This is why you see most times people complain that after their child or loved one returns from rehab, they continue from where they stopped and find it difficult to stop that which they have gone to the rehab for because they just lack the self-discipline to put themselves into the task and process in continuation to stop such.

I have come to realize that people often overlook and take things for granted and in some cases, those things they overlook turn out to be their nightmare as they get addicted to it.

That's the reality. It is difficult to maintain self-discipline after going to extremes. To go to the extreme means that the person has gradually built a castle of addiction in his mind, and it will undoubtedly be difficult for such a person to maintain discipline because the monster he has created will continue to hunt him. The most effective discipline is avoidance.

When we learn to avoid things that have a negative impact on us, we can increase our level of discipline. It is always easier not to start than to start and then assume you can stop whenever you want. It is often said that we learn to do by doing, and so it makes it difficult to unlearn what we have learned. Even with a therapeutic approach, it is still not easy.

Only alcohol, moderate quantities.

I think too much of everything is bad. So not good. Health is wealth at the end of the day.

It is often said that we learn to do by doing, and so it makes it difficult to unlearn what we have learned. Even with a therapeutic approach, it is still not easy.

Sometimes people have the will to do something or stop what they feel is undoing them but the discipline is not there to make sure they act accordingly. It is not like they are not making any efforts but is just that the addiction is far much into them now that some people will say it is in their blood ie we all know that any disease that enters the blood is kind of difficult to remove but it takes a very long process to do and this is same like being addicted to something and trying to do away with that habit you are customed to. Moderation should always be a thing in one's mind when engaging or doing something that one knows might get them addicted. When things are being done in moderation, you have the willpower over such things and would not allow them to overpower your self will to resist or desist from it whenever you want to do so.

Your last statement is very accurate, you never get to know the magnitude of both addictions until you’re addicted yourself and you’ve actually experienced both. Maybe that time you’d get to know that no addiction is better than the other, both addictions are evil. You’d feel like alcohol is better simply because it’s legal t on take alcohol, but not until a drunk or and addict shares his story with you and the impact of the addiction to his life as well as how much he’s tried so hard to stop it, then you’ll be able to realize that no one is better.

The name addiction is not good, we who feel addicted must try hard to get rid of the addiction, especially addictions of the nature mentioned, it is an addiction that can make people fall and become worthless in the eyes of society and family.

Yeah, just imagine not being trusted by your own family and loved ones simply because of a habit that suddenly turned into an addiction and you can’t even do shit about it. Yeah I no now that everyone mustn’t like or trust you, but not when it’s about a habit that’s literally turning your life upside down and you know this but can’t actually do shit about it. Addiction is more of a mental and psychological problem And it takes only the grace of God and maximum effort and dedication from the affected folk to get help and break free from it.

Family support is the strongest fortress to fight addiction, no matter how bad we are, our family will definitely still be helped by them, because they are the last place we complain in this real world.

Very true.
But first, the most important thing when it comes to fighting addiction is the victim admitting that they are actually addicted and willingly seeking out for help, because a lot of people who are addicted may not even know they are actually addicted or just don’t wanna admit it, thus making it impossible to actually help such people because they don’t even need the help. But when the victim actually realizes and acknowledges the impact of the addiction in the lives and that of their loved ones, it helps facilitate the process helping them.

To admit addiction is very difficult, whether because they are embarrassed or there is something they are hiding, we don't know, but the sooner they seek treatment, the sooner they will be free from addiction.

Very true, because when they fail to seek for the help, no matter how many times they’re been offered help, they’ll always discard or neglect it, rather than accepting it. And when this happens, it becomes impossible for the affected victim to actually break free from that particular addiction.

The name addiction is not good, we who feel addicted must try hard to get rid of the addiction, especially addictions of the nature mentioned, it is an addiction that can make people fall and become worthless in the eyes of society and family.
When you are addicted to something is really not good most especially drugs, it has a big effect on human life, because the person will be physically, mentally and psychologically unfit, and the drugs will cause a lot of damages to the body system including the brain, and the person will have mental problems and he or she will be behaving abnormally and he will become a laughing stock, and he or she will serve as a disgrace to themselves and their family.
