It will remain to be the king of altcoin the original is always the best and with Vitalik Buterin still the main developer they will continue to reign as the best altcoin, we don't know what the future brings, so many new competitors in the smart contract are coming up but I doubt if they can keep up with Ethereum.

Their fee is still ridiculous and inconvenient blockchain network. Charging somone making a transaction of $100 to be requesting $50 as gas fee is not economical for anyone. This is even more than what an ordinary banks charges people. It's really important they scale their network.

I do see alot of people saying Polkadot will replace Ethereum in the long run, but I don't think that's ever going to happen, cause Ethereum is the king of altcoins, I know Polkadot has some crazy features but still that doesn't mean it's going to take Ethereum's place in the crypto ranking, Ethereum will always be the best altcoin out there, no doubts, have always believed in it.

Ethereum price is rising. As more popularity grows, many investors are trading. eth gas price so high now, eth still have a long way till eth 2.0. so ETH will drop meanwhile. Not for long now, there is already good alternative that solves the worst dilemma of crypto communities (High Gas fee, Slow, Clogging ...). I can name Solana for example, it's faster, cheaper, higher throughput TPS ... more scalable with whole news overview on how cryptocurrency technology should be ... what else would i want more than that.

First of all, if the ETH dont blow it ETH will forever remain the altcoin king and the increased in the popularity of exchange and market traffic is because of the institutions accumulation of crypto and I read that alot of Central Bank will create their national digital currency soon or later which I expect to help crypto to gain more fraffic.
With that been, I dont consider ETH having gas fee problem cause 66 gwei (~ 15 sec for transactions confirmation ), 57 gwei (~ 1 min) etc. Is not too much.

So, people who want their transaction to be completed fast pay a bit higher price than the normal and in this way, it is gradually increasing which is I afraid that some of the investors will switch to other platforms. I like Ethereum for now is that it changed to Ethereum 2.0.
This feature of Ethereum 2.0 is really cool because it can reduce transaction fees or speed up sending Ethereum coins in 1 second and can send more than 15 Ethereum.

I am using ETH as payment for transaction costs, and I have absolutely no intention of accumulating ETH in order to profit from its increase in price. In my opinion, ETH was born to be used by users of the Ethereum platform, which makes it the top altcoin.
However this position is threatened by TRON, Cardano & Polkadot. As a fan of Ethereum, I was really scared by Polkadot's development.

I also agree it is because erc20 is so popular this day. There are other blockchain in crypto but Erc20 is above them all. This platform is superior over the other. That is why not impossible for this coin to have a huge demands. Some projects navigate to Erc20 despite the high gas fee of eth.
