Technical Discussion / Re: Do you use a password manager?
« on: Today at 01:21:03 AM »
You wont get a virus by watching instagram or tiktok videos.

However, you can click in a malicius link from an instagram account, click something wrong and then boooom.

It just takes one mistake to lose your funds.

I had an experience a few months ago, and it was a very funny one, though, and how it occurred is what I am trying to understand till this moment because it looks like a potential threat to my device. I was watching video and it happens that it was when I was about tapping the screen to activate a command that was when an add popped up and it happened like I clicked the ads and it was just loading and loading without stopping and immediately I had too forcefully switch of my phone to forstall any further actions or command prompt it would activate so it doesn't cause harm to my phone and the funny thing is that I did not really see what I clicked and it just happened like that. That was how I escaped what I had no idea about, and I still could not explain what I clicked then till this very moment.
Depending on which sites you visit, they may load scripts (which could be malicious or not) from adware, then display fake antivirus ads with urgent call-to-action messages designed to trigger people's fear responses.

You really have to be careful with this kind of thing. My grams recently had her mobile device compromised this exact way. We took it to a repair shop, but just days later, the phone showed the same problem again... She will have to buy another smartphone.

This is very interesting.

I am afraid that such situations may lead to regulations over cryptography, which are very bad for privacy and the security of everyone.

If you read the cypherpunk manifesto , Eric Hughes deplore those regulations.

Take a look:

Quote
Cypherpunks deplore regulations on cryptography, for encryption is fundamentally a private act. The act of encryption, in fact, removes information from the public realm. Even laws against cryptography reach only so far as a nation’s border and the arm of its violence. Cryptography will ineluctably spread over the whole globe, and with it the anonymous transactions systems that it makes possible.
https://nakamotoinstitute.org/library/cypherpunk-manifesto/
It would be great if the average user learned about medium-advanced cryptography techniques. You don't need to be an IT technician to understand cryptography, which is one of the foundations of bitcoin and the privacy of our data.

pgp would be a great way to start, then move on to keepass, veracrypt...

Never rely solely on OS encryption.

Thanks for that cypherpunks quote, I'll check it out as soon as I can.

Announcements [ANN] / Re: CoinTor.org - best BTC MIXER IN WORLD!
« on: April 30, 2025, 11:48:51 PM »
I must welcome you!
It's great that you have a mirror link for TOR (99% of the time it's interesting to access the mixer's features on Tor, especially due to the legislation of some countries).

I just found the 8% fee for mixing amounts between 0.01 - 0.1 BTC a little high, especially for those who just want to test the mixer. Maybe it's a good idea to offer free mixes (first mix free), especially for you who are going to start a signature campaign in a few days.

I'm sure you chose a trustworthy and extremely professional manager! AB de Royse777

Stay active on the forum, answer questions in your ANN thread and little by little you will build a great reputation in the community.

Yes, in the future I do plan to create a small team to help manage operations, marketing, and support. However, for now it’s not yet feasible due to current resources and the early stage of the project’s growth. I believe in building a solid foundation first before expanding.

I agree with you completely — user feedback and visibility are essential. I’m already considering investing in some type of campaign to increase awareness and credibility. A review or signature campaign is definitely on my list, and I already have some ideas in mind that I hope to put into action soon.
Good to hear that. This forum, due to its low competition, could be an interesting opportunity for you, especially since it doesn't require significant investment like advertising on Satoshi's forum (BTT), which has much higher traffic but wouldn't work for your business due to their mixer ban. Wishing you good luck on your journey.

A review campaign would be a great way to start attracting new users.

This is where phising becomes dangerous. Sometimes you did your research, but you use some other address instead of  mixtum.io and then its gone...
Some adblockers are doing the basic job to protect against known phishing scams, but we can also use DNS based filtering, or create community campaigns to report all the scam and cloned websites.
Another tactics I noticed scammers use is to create mixer review websites with real reviews and rating, but they are using fake links for mixers.
I didn't know that scammers were so determined to get our money through tactics like these that seem quite sophisticated, scammers are everywhere, once they see profit in a certain niche.

To avoid falling for phishing scams like these, it's best to access the mixer website link through the ANN thread and then bookmark it in your browser, as well as 99.9% of the sites we visit on a daily basis, always save the website URL in your browser.

...
And i can't remember the exact place but I know I've read somewhere where the manager of this campaign said that mixtum campaign this time will be running for a long term, though I understand long term may likely mean different period of times for different people but let's hope it's for over a year, and let's also pray and hope that government become more friendly with mixers and clampdown on their site anymore, then we have the assurance that legitimate mixers that are here to provide long term service will freely operate without any issues from regulators.
Well, at least we have a real possibility of this happening, due to a more crypto-friendly government.

Strategy doesn't stop  :o
Even with so much fear in the market, Saylor's company still managed to buy more BTC

Source https://cointelegraph.com/news/michael-saylor-strategy-buys-285-m-bitcoin-83k

Impressive
Saylor has a gold mine on his hands, in addition to the appreciation of BTC, Strategy's shares are appreciating (performing even better than BTC itself) as Strategy buys bitcoins, earning income in two ways.

I'm just referring to your question about 5 BTC being worth roughly the amount I wrote - with the potential to be worth much more in the future. Anyone who has that amount and keeps it in any form of hot wallet (this includes all non-air-gapped wallets) should know how much risk they are exposed to - and all this for a few hundred $, which is how much a good air-gapped wallet costs, or even less a cold wallet that can be made on an old computer.

I'm not saying that someone will remotely hack Ledger or Trezor devices (or similar ones) tomorrow, but to me, avoiding that risk is worth a lot more than the $200-$300 you have to pay for it today.
You have a point, most non-airgapped wallets like Trezor/Ledger have already suffered scandals.
Do you think such non-airgapped devices have the same security as a software wallet?

I'd never keep 5 BTC or more in just one wallet, probably 70% of that amount I'd keep in an air-gapped hardware wallet or on an offline computer with encrypted Tails OS installed.
However, I still consider hardware wallets like Trezor to be more secure than software wallets connected to the internet.

Trump's policy of increasing tariffs against China has indeed had an impact on the global economy, including bitcoin.
But when the tariff war is over and returns to normal, everything will be fine as it is now.

There is no FUD and any policies from trump that have disrupted the global economy.
Now it's time for bitcoin to reach the new ATH faster.

Investors who exit first are likely to enter and bitcoin dominance increases and eventually when the dominance drops,
but the bitcoin price stabilizes above the new ATH, then the altcoin starts to recover.
The market is not like before, despite the 4-year cycle continuing to work or not, with the entry of the institutional, I realize that things are a little different, bitcoin continues to appreciate and correct whenever it can, but it is less volatile, although with fewer expressive highs and corrections as well.

13
The most talked about chart in recent months, especially during this correction, is the correlation of the Bitcoin chart with the M2 indicator, as shown in the image below. If BTC really follows the M2 pattern, it will target values like US$220,000 by July... Will we have a golden vacation?

I honestly don't believe in it that much. I think the maximum value that BTC will reach in this cycle is US$120,000 - US$150,000

News related to Crypto / Re: xrp etf in brazil
« on: April 29, 2025, 12:08:05 AM »
Hardly anyone likes XRP hahaha
It's probably better for it to be in ETFs which may be more the coin's target audience
I think it's only a matter of time before there's an XRP ETF in the United States too
I think this site investing.com is very good, I sometimes use it to analyze some data.

I don't have a broad understanding of the traditional market, but in case I'm mistaken, some ETFs pay dividends, right? After reading it, I saw that COIN11 pays dividends of 2% per month.

I think this issue of ETFs paying dividends could generate a good discussion.

Would you invest in these ETFs or trade directly in the spot market?
