What We Should Have Learned in School But Never Did

The role of education in the life of any one is not second place to non because education has it own effects and roles that it has in our life's so you if you don't take education seriously in life you will definitely regret it .

Formal education is actually very important but one problem will face currently is the fact that most of the people for the present generation actually question the importance of formal education when it comes to creating a better life for one's self.
The standards of a 9-5 job seems to be dropping drastically every single day and as a result of the economic condition things only seem to be getting worse as inflation actually hits harder on the economy.

Schooling is still critical in the development of competency and understanding in whatever vocation one takes, but this is in a different social context and therefore needs to be applied differently. More and more, people have developed doubts about the worth of the traditional education system with more work options available besides the conventional system. The development of technology and the digital economy, as well as entrepreneurship, are giving preference to other options that were less preferred earlier. Nevertheless, it does not imply that formal education is useless and has no value. What is required, therefore, is an approach which will allow the education system to meet the current conditions of the world of work. So the idea is not in acquiring a degree, but in what can be achieved to ensure that one gets valuable skills fit for the contemporary society.

Our current state of education is outdated and inactive. We all live in a world where access of information and knowledge is ubiquitous. The value of memorizing information to regurgitste, write exams,  pass tests and get good grades had declined. Children growing up today will actually have four jobs at same time. But currently the model if education tell us to prepare for the future that doesn't exist. If the purpose of school is to turn us into fully responsible, happy adults, it failing on many levels.There are numerous things we should have known earlier enough growing from little having this mind set of leaders of tomorrow.Thinking of what I will have done on my 23 now I would have chosen a different career.

The present educational system is nothing but a big scam which is presented to Nigerians and then they sweet talked them into. Honestly speaking the present educational system is outdated and as such should be constantly updated, if truly the government means well for the citizens. Imagine me in my university  days I was taught topic which are meant for those in secondary and even primary schools, imagine me paying that huge amount of university fee only for me to be taught what my kid brother in primary school is learning. The government alongside the ministry of education should look into this

Most times if my friends tell me that school na Scam, I do not entirely disagree because, the present day education is outdated imagine a final year student in the university being taught things that are meant for a primary school student how will this old knowledge ever help that undergraduate after his graduation, while pursuing his or her future ambitions. So the government should look into this matter and update the current teachings guide, if they really value the lives of we citizens as they claim. God bless everyone.

I support you on this. Schools are meant to teach her student practical ways of making money instead of just filling up the head of the student with theories, and big grammar. There should be a subject which center around practical ways of making money. Am telling you if this is implemented there  wil be lessening in the rate of kidnapping, stealing and so on. The leader should really implement this.

It's funny that some of us studied marketing, business admin, and still don't know how to run a business, not even the lecturers have the practical knowledge of what they teach, that's why most people believe that school is a scam, it's not really a scam but the system is a scam

This used to be the aim of going to school but currently in most Nigeria education institutions they have changed everything - now you go to school and instead of lecturers teaching students or students learning so that they would be able to use that knowledge in their real life, they school has so much shorten the academic session to the extent that student don’t even have time to digest knowledge all they now do is to cram so that they can pass their exams.

Take for example - you go to a medical school, a semester that was supposed to run for 5 months has now being shortened to 3 months and lectures now have to give out AOCs to medical students that were supposed to be grounded in every aspect of the human body; just so that they can pass their exams. The school system that’s being experienced now isn’t after knowledge but instead they are after those that have the ability to cram and write exams.

Well, that’s the only thing we get when a president who thinks that there’s no value in education goes into office.

Federal universities are in shambles and if care is not taken you’ll start to hear news about some closing down because of the lack of proper support from government. The way lecturers teach students these days it’s giving the “how much are there paying me for me to kill myself because of teaching”.

It’s actually a shame to see the direction that our education system is crumbling to.

This shows that things are not done the right way. In other countries praticals are more of the area of concentration than theories. Nigeria is only after theory and it's a misplaced priority. Skill and creativity is what's paving way from dying in poverty. I think no one should depend on going to school alone but also build up yourself in skill.

This shows that things are not done the right way. In other countries praticals are more of the area of concentration than theories. Nigeria is only after theory and it's a misplaced priority. Skill and creativity is what's paving way from dying in poverty. I think no one should depend on going to school alone but also build up yourself in skill.

Schools keep demanding money from student through various means either through the payment of school fees, buying of compulsory textbook paying of class, departmental and even faculty dues. After collecting all this money from us they don't in turn teach us how to make money. I heard news of so many students back in school that engage in a sort of dubious activities, just to make money which will enable them to feed and pay their school fees because they had no one supporting them. I really think the educational system has to top their game, they should teach things that really matter, things like make money through legitimate sources.

Well wanna get to know a not so fun fun fact? Basically the school system, formal education at least wasn't really created to make money makers and ultimately successful people, it was actually created to make comfortable people at least.
School is a good concept though but to become successful you need to think outside the box and it seems the school system has made most of these people relaxed because of the promises of white collar jobs.

Schooling is good, very good, but with disguise of not showing what we will really see in the real world. We learnt Business Studies, Economics, Marketing in school, knowing how to memorize theories and laws, write exams and come out with good grades to work in companies and for people, not knowing how to create those opportunities for ourselves. What makes schooling good is you get formal education, and that is what we leave with, in the real world, the struggle on how to use that which we have acquired from formal education becomes a challenge, because there is no route on where or how to channel it.

School is not supposed to be scam if they had given us the required knowledge on how to create opportunities and not Fit into the unemployment line, but because we were not taught, we found out ourselves, and that made school a scam, but not education, cause learning never ends.
