Education in Nigeria needs renovation from all the angles. And remove some of the unuseful subjects and course.

It's obvious that here in Nigeria, majority don't even understand why it's important to go to school and acquire knowledge. Those who are the supposed education ministers and commissioners don't even know from their left to their right. I clearly don't see any reason why a 10/11/12 year old child, probably in j.s.s1, will be offering about 14-16 courses at that age. How do you expect that child to read such number of courses well?. Take the educational system for example, the structure is just too bad. A child runs 3 terms reading same course over and over again. I saw someone uploaded the school fees of her child in Kindergarten on social media, and it was very close to half a million. Just imagine paying such amount for a child that will still end up passing through a system that isn't well structured.

Well, there is literally nothing we can do about it, but it's very important that we acquire that degree in one way or the other. No let the government mistake vex you. Just do your part because no be only you e affect.
The problem is coming from the education ministry. The education ministry does not care about the welfare of the students when they are in the school and after school. There is no plans for them so they the students see education as scam.. we need good educationist as in the ministry.

Even if the system has failed you must acquire education even if you can't afford it at least basic education is important.  Even if after going to school and you can't find a job in Nigeria you might have opportunities outside the country, don't allow the system of the country affect your mindset you must learn to think beyond where you are.

This is the only thing that is still keep the youngsters going - the hope that one day they’ll be able to utilize all that they have managed to learn in school in a different country or in a place that still knows the importance of being educated.

Quote
Go to school, come out with good grades and be optimistic, learn physical and online skills so you can have a side hustle

They shouldn’t just go because they want the certificate they should do it and make sure they come out being among the best in their time - it will help boost their success rate when they come into society because they have already developed that habit of wanting to do the best in whatever they engage in.

That's true, education ministry really doesn't care about the welfare of the students in any school or in exact words in any country school.

In some countries they have mindset to manipulate people and make them believe in things that aren't even going to happen. It's so much politics and drama everywhere.

I believe the whole school system is a failure and nothing else. It's far better to teach your children at home and something like home-schooling is a good option.

I believe the whole school system is a failure and nothing else. It's far better to teach your children at home and something like home-schooling is a good option.

How would they care when they've left the subject matter òf that ministry and are focus on looting funds meant to develop the educational sector of the country, Nigerian education is a mess and this present government have failed, I just hope things get better so generations to come would not suffer the consequences of their evil and selfish acts. Politics have taken over every sector of the country and it's a shame that the educational sector is not left out of it, that's why university students mostly the ones attending government owned schools would round up a course meant for four year in 5, 6 or sometimes 7 years due to the so called ASUU strike, funny enough those so called politicians don't care cause their children are not affected because they've sent them to study in various schools abroad and leaving poor masses to suffer. Sometimes I asked myself, who cursed Nigeria with bad government, how are going to eradicate this?

But currently the model if education tell us to prepare for the future that doesn't exist.
Future is just not guaranteed but i does exist and that is why we prepare ourselves for the future. Or can you tell me yourself that you don’t have plans for the future? It not possible everyone has plans for future and even if things don’t work out as planned or even if they don’t make it to the future. Education is also important because it is the pillar to our success in future sso I disagree with you about the future you claim doesn’t exist.

Most investors also think about future when investing in an asset and similarly if the education system prepares one for future then nothing is wrong in that approach.
It has already been thought over if not people wouldn’t be thinking about how to live in years to come. So it is with cryptocurrency, no one knows how long they will live but they still invest in bitcoin and other coins so i also don’t think there is anything wrong with that approach.

Our current state of education is outdated and inactive.
If there's anything that need to change in Nigeria is the way our educational systems is structured as the education that we are receiving from our schools is outdated and can't longer feet into our current challenge in the country generally speaking Nigeria educational systems is theory based and so we are wired to talk and theorize about the situation in the country. the best form of education one can receive is vocational education as it equiped  people with the needed skills that will see you through after schooling Looking at the leading Economies of the world what they are based in is vocational education

It may be required of the Nigerian government to over haul the Nigerian education system to fit today’s requirements especially as it relates to vocational education. Academic based education in turn will prepare us for the world of work as has been done in developed countries and will directly boost the economy as indicated below.

]It may be required of the Nigerian government to over haul the Nigerian education system to fit today’s requirements especially as it relates to vocational education. Academic based education in turn will prepare us for the world of work as has been done in developed countries and will directly boost the economy as indicated below.
Even if the current educational system is not possible to be completely overhauled, the government should invest in making the curriculum a bit deeper because I think that what people learn in school is a lot of shallow education. One very good example of this is the simple first aid that is taught in primary and secondary schools. Notice most topics on first aid at the primary and secondary school level, even at the university level, mostly talk on the content of a first-aid box but not actual physical first aid practices like CPR et cetera. There are many other examples like this, all proof that more depth need to be given to school curriculum.

Nigeria should focuse and prioritize vocational education in the country if we are to make headway because the current system of education is more about theory and theorizing doesn't help. What the world needs now is practical ideas because the world is now a place where only creative skillful people survive so if our educational system can succeed in turning from this level we are and make our educational system vocational where practical knowledge will be impacted to the students it will be a plus to us because it's really going to impact positively on our economy

The educational system of the country is actually messed up and one of the problems of the educational system like you mentioned is actually this problem of less practicals when it comes to formal education and learning. Sometimes although theories are important, having a first hand experience of such things make them stick better.

Sometimes these practicals aren't being carried out because of deficiency of the required tools and equipments .

I don't see what is wrong with a child that is growing up and just starting school in J.S.S 1 offering the number of courses that you're referring to because children learn by what they are exposed to early in life so allowing students of that age to go through such process is good and in order what we really need in our educational sector is vocational education where students will be exposed to more of practical knowledge

There are times we will be in school and feels that the whole process is too harsh on us due to the learning conditions and how we find it difficult to assimilate, but later in life, we may also see it as opportunity missed, that we would have learnt some things before now while in school, education has its own importance which we may not know by then, but think the whole process is just being unconducive by us while learning, that is why some will later still go back to school to learn what they have failed to learn from the beginning.

The role of education in the life of any one is not second place to non because education has it own effects and roles that it has in our life's so you if you don't take education seriously in life you will definitely regret it when you grow older and see the reason why you should have taken school seriously because one thing that I have seen is that every thing that you are ask to do has it place in life and you are going to definitely encounter such problems in life as you grow older .

Formal education is actually very important but one problem will face currently is the fact that most of the people for the present generation actually question the importance of formal education when it comes to creating a better life for one's self.
The standards of a 9-5 job seems to be dropping drastically every single day and as a result of the economic condition things only seem to be getting worse as inflation actually hits harder on the economy.
