Can you make it more specific, mate? Beat ETH in what matter? If you mean to beat ETH for its popularity, I think it will be hard for new coins. Also, if you mean to beat the market cap, it is too hard for new coins.

Actually anything can happen in Cryptocurrency, like Ethereum will be defeated by a new Crypto.  Nobody guarantees Ethereum will continue to be on top, but someone's belief that Ethereum is not beaten by this new coin can certainly make Ethereum even stronger.
So it will be increasingly difficult for new Cryptocurrency coins to beat Ethereum.

I think  new coins have potential  to beat ethereum,  But It will take several years again.  Because Ethereum  is smart contract platform  and mother  of ICO.  Mary tokens  have integrated  to ethereum  mate.
It is really  so popular.

But to beat Ethereum in terms of total market capitalists is very difficult because Ethereum is more widely owned by crypotcurrency lovers than new coins.

Yes, I thin new Crypto can beat Ethereum in the market. Because there is many potential new Crypto now. They are very potential but not as popular as ethereum, Ethereum has bigger community and still maintain its position as the top altcoins.
I also see Ethereum has shown good recovery at this year.
Maybe at the coming future, we will see new crypto can beat Ethereum, but not today.

I still remember that a lot of people said there would be no coins that could pass through Bitcoin. However, we can see market conditions now that YFI coins are valued above Bitcoin. This coin is very remarkable and is able to experience a very rapid price increase.
