I have a stupid habit of selling my tokens with prospect more than those with out future. i have sold off tokens that i am suppose to hold but HOLD those i am suppose to sell off. for over two years i have been making terrible decision on what to hold and what to sell. i think i still need to learn what crypto is and how the ecosystem is. for me it is difficult to identify scam token and quality project. projects. guys how and what is your criteria for picking token to keep.
Personally I just look at price charts and study the statistical probabilities of it moving up or down. Generally speaking, if it's in a downtrend against BTC, then I'll sell for Bitcoin. If it's in a downtrend against Ethereum, I'd sell for ETH. Fundamentals are important, but much more difficult to assess how relevant it is to a project and whether it's over or undervalued. I'm only buying altcoins with Bitcoin or Ethereum, so it has to provide a really good argument for buying in order for me to risk selling (losing) my BTC or ETH for.
Otherwise if price is moving up, I generally hold until price reverses, often with a stop loss. If price is going down, I sell, even at the lows, as it can still go much lower. 99% of projects will fail so I'm no longer interested in holding a 100 tokens so that 1 of them can make good money, even if arguably it can be a better strategy if you can actually sell the top. I otherwise always sell 50% at 2x, and usually continue selling 50% per 2x. Too many coins end up back to where they started after 2-4x, so don't take any chances these days.
In summary I'm more of sceptic than I used to be, so prefer simply holding Bitcoin & Ethereum longer-term, as only a very small number of projects will outperform them long-term.
Maybe whatever your emotions are telling you to do you should try doing the opposite? Sounds like it might be a better strategy
