This is the problem we are facing in this country, an organization would be putting up such criteria for employment then how about the new fresh graduate that are very much vibrant in service, eager and ready to deliver, how would they then gain experience if they are not given the platform to showcase their knowledge and ability. Companies be putting up years of experience and be employing shaft and sacked workers from other companies who would lie to them neglecting the fresh young graduates with bright futures.
These days, it is just better one learn skills or start up a business venture if they have the capacity to do so as the rate of unemployment in our country is alarming and the worst of it all is that the government is not helping matters. Instead of creating new opportunities, they are busy closing the ones already in existence citing reasons best known to them. It is quite unfortunate that with our resources, our government can not do anything for the unemployed youths.
And shockingly, this unrealistic criteria that most companies pull up, is now forcing some Nigerians to tell lies about themselves. I heard of a woman who is receiving a good pay from a company, but the company doesn't know that she is married, because it was never stated by her. She had to lie just because the company might be demanding for a none married worker. I won't be surprise when forgery of fake birth certificate will become rampant, just because of company demands.
So, you are right by suggesting that people should start learning skills. Even though the money to open a business can be difficult for some, but sometimes, we have to try to start from somewhere (start small). If you eventually become a boss of your own, no one will give you unrealistic rules to abide by, because the responsibility is now 100% yours.
