ICOs that last for many months at least 4 months together with the presale has the chance to reach the hard cap and aalso a good strategy to introduce the project to the crypto community. It does not matter if many will not buy as long as the information for the project is delivered successfully to them. Letting the community know the project is a big help because it can attract easily when it hits in the market.

Most ICOs ends as plans because they hit it's soft and hard cap respectively, and some may even extend for more investors to purchase it shares of the coin/token there by making the ICO last longer than it intended.Wish there was some unsaid rule where if you extend past your date, you have to double the bounty bonus.

ICO period are sometimes categorized into phases with different bonuses and as such takes a longer period of time. The period is normally widened in order to reach more investors through the bounty advertisement and other means.
The developer make it sure that the length of the ICO is good enough to reach the hardcap. Although most of brilliant project will hit the hardcap in just a month of ICO but for those not good enough it needs some more time to attract more investors. It depends also on their digital marketing strategy and participation of various crypto events. More exposure will make the project hype and more investors will invest.

No one wants ICO periods to be extended though, but i think its not a bad idea if the project is not able to reach its softcap and so the ICO must be extended.

This depends on the roadmap set by the team. Others prefer making it long so that all their tokens will be sold.

Yeah I agree with you.And maybe they widened their ICO it's because they can't hit the aoftcap or hardcap.

Most ICOs are long but there are shorter ones as well. I usually prefer the shorter ones. The longers ones keep you in suspense

Yes, I also like long ICO. Because We can get more tokens the you join in short. It is my opinion.

This case I see is for those ico that has a big hard cap value. It is impossible for them to reach their hardcap if they only shortened their tokensale. Especially for those ico that has a no solid product.

The reason why ICO periods are long, maybe the project is not interesting and not get many investor. It is my opinion.

an increase in the period indicates that the project can not collect the necessary amount for the implementation of the project. Either the project has a weak idea, or a weak marknenig. But in any case, this is a signal that something is not right with the project. And there is a threat of losing their investments

I ptefered for a short period of bounty. I have join many projects that only for 3-4 weeks and it paying  a token. I am agreeable to OP in saying to widen the coverage of possible crypto investors.. But most of wider campaign gets less bounty hunters.
