✅ Stake your Bitcoin address

Is it possible to stake a Bitcoin address that you create on a offline machine or air gaped system? I believe it could be done with Electrum but I haven't done it with an cold wallet yet, but does anyone here doing it with cold wallet or you guys are stacking hot wallet address?

Of course you can.

Just sign the message offline and paste the signature here, just like you would do with a normal transaction, that you would only share the signature.

I signed using Ledger Nano S, which is also a cold wallet.

Remember that it doesn't have to be an address that you are actively using, but it should be an address that you always have access to.

In Trezor Suite, you can create a signed message using the ETH Address in Trezor (BIP137) or Electrum format (compatibility signature format).

Yeah, I know Trezor Suite has nice tool for signing messages, question is if it's compatible with all other ethereum wallets.

To verify the signature, I tried using https://etherscan.io/verifiedSignatures#. Here are the results:



As seen above, the information 'Invalid Length' appears in the Signature Hash section.
Therefore, it is necessary to add 0x* to the beginning of the Signature generated from Trezor Suite:

Not a problem. This is quite useful to know about this possibility on other coins besides BTC.
It is certainly an idea primarily for staking addresses for the purpose of later proving the ownership of the account.

There are more coins/wallets that allow us to sign/verify messages. When I have a little more time I will add them.

For Bitcoin we have Sparrow wallet that you can add to your list of desktop wallets supporting this.
Feather wallet for Monero have option to sign and verify messages in desktop computers, and it works similar like with electrum wallet for bitcoin.
There are even some web tools that can be used for this purpose.
