Spain got what they wanted, and finished off as the leader of the group, did not expected much else from this game to be fair. Group stages has provided a lot more fun than world cup group stages to be fair. I get why people say that European group stages are much harder, feels like there are a lot more harder teams here, and things are a lot better looking. I do hope that it will get better, we just watched some amazing matches.

And this is a very disappointing day for Modric. Just imagine, Modric scored 1 goal in the 55th minute for Croatia, and that lasted until the match was almost over. Of course, the hope is that they can actually make it through.

However, it turned out that it all failed, after Mattia Zaccagni scored a goal for Italy in extra time, in the 90+6 minute. This was a great surprise for all of them.

Look at Modric's expression of disappointment, it's broken heart.
At least, this might be his last EURO, and he and Croatia will have to be eliminated and not qualify for round 16.

I honestly didn't see the match, this Italy team bores me a lot at the moment
they told me they snatched the victory in the many minutes of recovery

it makes me laugh, if they win like this against Croatia, against Spain, France and Germany they really have no hope

In that match, Modric failed to take advantage of a penalty kick but he made up for his mistake by scoring 1 goal. But unfortunately Italy equalized the score in the minute of added time. And Italy managed to collect 1 point in that match and Croatia automatically failed to get full points. This does feel very interesting. But I still prefer the world cup qualifying rounds.

The Italy vs Croatia match was really quite dramatic. And honestly I hope Croatia wins this match. Although at first I favored Italy. In that match, Modric failed to take advantage of a penalty kick but he made up for his mistake by scoring 1 goal. But unfortunately Italy equalized the score in the minute of added time. And Italy managed to collect 1 point in that match and Croatia automatically failed to get full points. This does feel very interesting. But I still prefer the world cup qualifying rounds. 

A super hard-fought match, I was glued to the TV with friends to watch it.It was incredible but no one spoke in the last minutes, everyone was silent to see what could happen. What suffering.Ok we are qualified but we need a miracle to get the plays out of the hat.

Italy can thank the referee of the match for inventing even 8 minutes of stoppage time and for judging very biasedly from the beginning. To make things even more incredible, he was chosen as the match referee by the Italians in UEFA, who are responsible for such decisions - and the said Dutchman is a great friend of Pierluigi Collina. The penalty kick was visible from the plane, but he still wouldn't have judged it without VAR.

However, even though the referee did his dirty work, one should be honest and say that Croatia played very badly in all three games and that it paid the price for what its coach failed to do. A bunch of talented young players didn't get a minute, while he favored people who are out of shape or simply too old to play modern football.

Croatia still has a chance, but it depends even on the results of 4 games, and miracles don't happen every day.

It is eliminated in football theory, it is a reality, perhaps, but mathematically it is possible, very low, but it is not zero, Croatia  have a mathematical chance of qualifying as best third, it's not going to happen...

I feel Croatian with this comment, but I am a real fan of this team.

By teh way; the World Cup is the biggest thing there is, and the emotions for a European Fans can be read as you mention, I understand you, but I don't share it.

Todays shock came from Austria, nobody expected them to win against Netherlands at all, and this made Netherlands be third, all probabilities show that they will probably go up anyway from the best thirds, but still a shock. France being second was even bigger shock to me because I honestly expected them to win all three games and get 9 points, the fact that they didn't is a shocker to me. Austria now have an easier opponent, probably Turkey which is us, but still it is quite tough. I know they beat us just recently, but that was a friendly, and I believe we are going to do much better next time.

I watched/followed a few EUROs already but this is the first time I'm seeing a case like Denmark and Slovenia in group B. They were tied in every metric that you could think of and the tie breaker came from the game in qualifying that was played last year.

Austria is definitely a very nice surprise of this championship, and they obviously managed to arrange their team in an ideal combination of experienced and young players, and they have an excellent coach who came up with excellent tactics. They respect the opponent, but they are not afraid of him, regardless of who it is. I hope that they will continue to play at that level in the rest of the championship.

It's really something that even I don't remember ever happening, but the group is really very even, regardless of the fact that some considered England to be the absolute favorite. Although in the end they won the group, they did not show too much and it is obvious that they play football in which it is more important to defend than to score a goal.
