It is time for him to finally retire and give spot to someone younger.

I could have gone Switzerland instead of England, I just think England will find a way to scale through, as for Germany and Portugal, I don't think either of them have faced a team credible enough for to conclude that they're up to the task of eliminating Spain and France respectively, while for the Netherlands they've been somewhat good enough in my opinion, at least good enough to effortlessly see out the Turkish team.

Yes, there are many people who choose the way you choose. because the reasons you convey are also very understandable. Perhaps you're right, but at the end of the day he's doing his legacy and the entire squad more harm than actually helping out, starting every single game and playing almost every minute despite his poor form in front of goal just seem rather more like a blatant nepotism. His numbers are out there to speak for itself but those days are far behind him and he of all people should understand that you don't need to be on the pitch in order help your team mates, his presence alone in the dressing room and on the sideline would be more impactful than what he's currently offering the team on the pitch, however it's been said over and over again that he thrives mostly on the grand stage, maybe we can see that version of Ronaldo from the quarter final onwards.
