Is Olympic boxing as same corrupted as professional boxing? I dont get benefits of bribing judges. You get an Olympic medal in the end, but few know if there will be any kind of reward from your country. In professional it is clear why it is corrupted - big money are on stake. I am not much familiar with betting on specific sport, but do people place bets on it? I mean do casinos really add those huge tables of all boxing fights during Olympic games for betting?

I wouldn't say corrupt but definitely there are a lot of instance in the Olympics wherein the judges are biased because the game is held on one country and someone could be facing the home favorite. In this case Roy Jones Jr vs Park Si-Hun in the 1988 Olympic games in South Korea. So and Park is the favorite to win, although we know how great Roy Jones Jr is. And so it was a clear as a day time robbery. And so Jones became of the best boxers when he retired, but we don't know what happen to Park. It says that he did go on the depression after supposedly winning the gold medal. For the betting, yeah, there could be casinos that are going to cover not just boxing, but in every sports specially if it will involved Americans, or at least sports that we love like boxing and basketball.

+1, yeah that could be the biggest robbery of the Olympics in turn of biased judges, Alberto Duran of Uruguay and Hiouad Larbi of Morocco,  59-58 for Park, and and then Bob D. Kasule of Uganda, who scored the bout even 59-59 but put Park the winner.

In any case though, it was really brutal to hear the results as Jones and the US team can't believed the scoring and there are reports that the Korean boxing commission could have influence this judges to give Park the gold medal.

Break dancing is something new for Olympic games. I wonder who made selection of sports to appear? Voting competition?

It seems there are several steps before a sport is listed in the Olympics, ranging from having an international sports association, applying for admittance, and so on[1]. Not sure which step is the hardest but having an international governing body probably means a sport needs to be popular in several countries before people can compete on that. Although I'm not sure to what degree. CMIIW.

In preparation for Olympic Games this summer city of Paris was doing a big cleaning of river Seine, so that it can be used for swimming competitions during the Olympics.
Major of Paris wanted to prove everyone that Seine is now clean, so she took the swim in the river herself

Perhaps for some OG fans of Summer Olympics we might not watch this sports as obviously, it mostly youth playing this kind of "sports" and it made it's debut in the Youth Summer Olympics. Now it's a full blow sports and as much as for us, this might not be categorically called a "sports", but it has gather some momentum already and I think it could be one of the biggest and most watch.

So they introduced a dance that stopped being cool over a decade ago? 
Oh well.
I'll probably watch it anyways. There will be some appeal to it as with every novelty, but I suspect that putting official rules and scoring system on it might kill all the fun. But let's just wait and see.

Round 1 of Olympic Football matches is starting today with eight matches.
Argentina is playing the first match in the tournament against Morocco and this two teams never played against each other before.
Alvarez, Rulli, and Otamendi are all playing for Argentina after winning Copa America few weeks ago.

I couldn't watch the match between Argentina and Morocco, but the truth is that it gave a lot to talk about, especially because of a goal that eliminated Argentina, but the impact was so strong that I saw that in almost all the news programs in the world that they put the controversy, of course I know that Argentina has a different tint just for being Argentina, everyone is waiting to see what happened, but this calls attention because according to sources there was no "offside" and if this was the case, unfortunately we are facing corrupt acts? I hope not, but now with a VAR one thinks differently.

It was a big drama in Argentina vs Morocco match in the stoppage time, Medina scored a goal 16 minutes in extra time but it was disallowed for offside and Argentina lost 1:2.
Fans from Morocco entered the pitch and thrown many bottles to players of Argentina, than after 1 hour VAR decided that goal was offside. 
Spain won against Uzbekistan with same result, France was better than USA. and Japan scored five goals against Paraguay.
Round 2 is played this Saturday with eight new matches.

Well, Messi's reaction was that great "Insólito"= "Unusual", but one word says a lot, from here we can highlight that the behavior of the Argentinians, of the Argentinian fans, is violent and of tarnishing something as sacred as the Olympic games, whenever there are these kinds of acts it should be repudiated, and it already happened in the USA when security failed and caused many Colombians to sneak in without paying their entrance fee, now this in France, means that the security agencies have to be much more committed and with greater strength, this cannot and should not continue happening.

I'm looking forward to the opening of the Olympics, there's very little time left.

Olympic Games football Round 2 is scheduled for tomorrow with eight more matches.
Argentina has a good chance to win three points against Iraq after losing in first round and they should be motivated tomorrow.
I am expecting interesting match between Ukraine and Morocco, maybe this is the match to look for surprise result.
Japan win is one of the best bets for me tomorrow if they continue playing like in first round.

I had a small parlay on number of Olympic events mostly football, I had Canada basketball team to defeat Greece, and for football I had France, Argentina, Spain and USA to all win their respective games, France almost ruined it for me, but they eventually came very close to the end of the match with a goal and where able to defend the goal... Michael Oliseh was absolutely sensational for France again, at this rate, I see no reason why he should be called into the national team in their next international break.

Quite unusual to see Australia leading on medals table not only by number of gold medals, but by overall number of medals. I usually dont pay much attention to Australia, and I am used to see China, USA and Germany on first places of medal tables, but it turns out that this year Australia has brought even more athletes than China and Germany.
