As announced by DAZN on their facebook page, Canelo Alvarez vs Edgar Berlanga is now official and this fight will take place on September 14 at Las Vegas.

Some said (includind me) that this is cherry-picking once again on the side of Team Canelo.

It's another tune up for Canelo again, but what can we do, he chooses to still get away from David Benavidez and doesn't want to give him that fight and so we will have to accept it.

Interesting in the undercard is Danny Garcia vs Erislandy Lara, both are good champions in their primes. Danny Garcia's left hook and same with Lara who I  think give Canelo one of his hardest fight because of Lara's style.

In any case I don't see Berlanga pulling a upset here, and maybe after this win, Canelo might want to give Benavidez his due and fight him next year.

Although in paper Berlanga is huge and has that power and size at 168 lbs, Canelo still had that mentality and he is also a great counter puncher.

Him and Munguia are the only fighter that Canelo wanted because somewhat their names are somewhat the hype. And there were even talks of a Munguia vs Berlanga rivalry as they are contemporaries. Lucky for them have, they have fought Canelo already and getting their biggest paycheck.

Agree that an upset is very impossible. Mungia is way better than Berlanga and Canelo destroyed and toyed with the kid so how much more can he do with the inexperienced Berlanga.

The point is that Canelo or any boxer should be fighting their mandatory. If not, they should be stripped of the belts. But other governing body is not going to imposed it. Morrell and Benavidez is not rank by the IBF so I doubt that they are going to be fighting for the vacant belt.

They really laden out their plans for this year, Munguia and Berlanga. And I though that Munguia vs Berlanga should have happen earlier, as the promoters of both of them are hyping this fight.

But in any case they got what they wish, a bigger paycheck fighting Canelo.

Good thing for Crawford is that if the Canelo fight doesn't materialize for various reasons, his Excellency has other option. I watched his interview and he said that he is willing to stage a fight with Crawford facing Ortiz if Canelo is a no-go. Still Crawford vs Ortiz is a crowd drawer in my opinion. I don't see any chance that Crawford would beat a bigger Canelo Alvarez.
