Nowadays, sponsors would quickly pull out of the deal if their product is under heavy criticisms or just a little controversy. I think that's how contracts are being made now that's why they can unilaterally say they are out. This is not only happening to sports athletes, I've seen this happen often to social media influencers and streamers.
Sponsors will not spend money for free, so they will also make an agreement that will benefit both parties, both the sponsor and the sponsored party.

This is a business and in business no party wants to lose. So when there is something that is considered not to provide anything or makes one party lose, the cooperation will be discussed again and may end in termination of cooperation.

Sponsors don't see athletes winning or losing but they want them to be seen by a large audience as others have said, the more fans of the sports club or athlete, the happier the sponsor will be.
So usually what is aimed at is the audience, especially this is a big sport that is watched a lot then the sponsor will receive many benefits.
Exactly, it's not actually about winning or losing but sponsors take and grab that opportunity with the promotors popularity to make their brands appear all over the world as we all know cameras are everywhere nowadays like televisions sports news and stuff and then millions of influencers are gonna use that specific match footage to make some reaction videos that contain logos or names and brands of that sponsor and it's like the domino effects that keeps on coming ang that is how sponsors get attractions and possible costumers.

in sports, many brands put their names on an athlete’s head and on their team’s shoulders a lot of brands are associated with specific team sports now due to how obvious their names are planted on an athlete

but what does really make a sponsor happy? do they believe that even negative publicity is still publicity and still helpful to their brand? of course they want an always winning athlete but what if the athlete is not exactly the best personality in the sport does the sponsor also consider this? what do you think?
The thing with these brands who sponsor teams and athletes is to project their brands and sell them to a wider audience since sports since sports is one place that people have attention and there's a wide followership in so irrespective of weather an athlete do well or not what they are interested is selling their brands by way of putting it in the shirt that these athletes wear

Sometimes these brands sponsor athletes and sports teams even though their products or services have nothing to do with sports, but the popularity of the athlete or sport is the reason for the sponsorship. The brand only wants a larger audience.
Not sometimes but I believe most of the times they sponsor athletes only to gain popularity, and nothing else. They aren't interested in sports but they are interested in generating money and they know that sport athletes have fans and those fans when see their brand logo on shirts of players or see the players promoting such brands then they become buyers and that's how those brands generate revenue.

Sponsors want their brand noticed and back athletes or teams for attention. Winning helps, but even bad publicity can work sometimes. If the athlete’s image doesn’t match the brand, though, it could be a problem.
yeah that is what i thought even if an athlete is the most famous most successful one in the sport, will a brand be reluctant to have him as their sponsor if he isn’t the greatest personality across the sport?

it’s possible right? but then again if you have a chance to sign someone with a large fanbase and following you do it with no questions asked i guess that it goes the same way for athletes too if they are so obsessed with their image they probably would be a lot pickier in choosing the brand to work with

Negative publicity is not good for the brand, it may bring huge downfall on their stocks in the short term. I mean we all know what happened to Coca-Cola when Ronaldo removed it from his table so it should be a positive one even if the reach is not that big. Sometimes the negative publicity stunt can make their name reach all around the world and once they reached people they will do flip to make something out of it.

In sports, sponsors usually seek something more than just a win; they desire a relationship that imbues their brand with an agreed upon message of association. I think that whatever it is, wherever it is, if we as heroes or something have values and the same values of hard work, dedication, grit, for example, I think that has as much if not more of an impact when it happens than when the outcome of the competition occurs. The risk of negative publicity can be considerable but sponsors generally place a value on the impact, weighed in the context and turned to the positive. The emotional appeal and that connexion it brings to the fan is also why so many brands can continue to support athletes who may be away from the top on the field.

This could happen to a champ that was once a brand ambassador but after the champ loses and dethroned, the contract may also end and the ne champ will be the next brand ambassador.

Sponsors would want more camera and attention  which the champ has.  But yup it's still business for these sponsors and if they don't benefit I guess they can also cut the contract. There have been situation like these when Nike will just cancel the sponsorship.
Many cases like that are caused by one party not being benefited, and of course they will also include it in the cooperation contract that they signed by both parties.

Whoever can provide great benefits to both parties, then the cooperation will last a long time. This is actually the case in a sponsorship business like this. Because from the beginning of the cooperation, it was because both parties wanted to get the same benefits.

their goal is to sponsor one person or sports club their goal is business, where their hope is that by being used by players or even bar advertisements in one match, their coins/products can be known and can provide benefits, this method is quite efficient in my opinion because from a marketing strategy it can be said to be good by branding the product in the right place and will be seen by everyone

and what makes sponsors happy is when the sponsored team wins,

The contract of NBA stars can last their entire career as far as I know as long as they don't violate their contract or take sides on political issues.

Product placement on movies can be worth it for sponsors when the movie is related sports and casinos. This is usually I notice every time I watch movies already where  a company pays the production in order for their brand to be mentioned in the movie.

I haven't watched the movie ROADHOUSE but I wouldn't be surprised of crypto brands are there like Stake.com or crypto.com but more likely Monster drinks is there.

~ Sometimes the negative publicity stunt can make their name reach all around the world and once they reached people they will do flip to make something out of it.
Bad publicity is still publicity used to be a thing and the PR people could still make something good out of it but with the current woke culture, it's too risky for the brand sponsors to play that game. It's easier to just cut ties and move on to the next face.

Bad publicity is good for an individual like an actor or influencer which will create a buzz among the social media and obviously their value might increase but talking about a company it creates bad image and I am not sure people really want to buy something from a company when their name was considered bad that's why I said specifically even the reach is less it's always good for the company than bad one.

One thing you must know about sports and athletes is that, regardless of how wack or infamous an athlete is, he’ll always have his loyal audience, even if majority dislikes his performances, there’ll always be those who’d still enjoy the vibes he brings to the game, he may not be the best or as popular as other athletes that everyone knows and loves, but that doesn’t mean everyone hates or dislikes them either.
The sponsors will surely have a particular audience they’re targeting and and if they’re able to attract that particular audience, I’m pretty sure that the rest who dislikes the athletes wouldn’t be their problems anymore as they’ll still satisfied.

It's not a pragmatic approach for an advertiser to promote a brand with someone that is disliked by fans. Conor McGregor for example promoted a casino Duelbits early this year. But seem to be drunk every time he make a livestream.

He was scheduled to fight with Chandler but few weeks before the fight, he posted on x about his pinky was injured and fight was cancelled. Rescheduled again and then cancelled. I don't think a sponsor liked what he did.
