How much money have you lost in the crypto industry?

I have been in crypto for sometime now, but i have never lost any money to scammers or hacked or collapsed exchanges. I believe when i joined the industry, i took the advice and recommendations i got very seriously and i also learnt about how scammers operate and how to avoid them.

I am also very grateful that I have never experienced something like this. I am very lucky to get a lot of knowledge and experience from other people, both in this forum and others. At least we can learn and take wisdom from all the events that occur and we know about it.

because indeed, fraud is prone to occur in cryptos pace, especially with such sweet promises. but as long as we often think logically that getting money will not be as easy as turning over our hands, then at least we should be more vigilant with some unreasonable and seemingly very easy ways to multiply money.

You know sometimes ignorance would not allow one to see the future and as such, make one make silly mistakes that would cost them a lot of things. I have lost coins that were worth thousands of dollars to hackers and several occasions which I never thought would happen, some were as a result of my ignorance at the initial start and some were a friend whom I trusted but he masterminded the process thinking I will have no clues about it in the future. I believe the amounts put together could go a long way to help sort out this for me.

So sad to hear this, so pathetic to be hacked of a hard earn assets. so sorry for the mistake. It is important to stay alert on any unnecessary phishing links or SMS alerts, you never can tell what will happen, i always advice large crypto assets owners to be vigilant, mind those you deal with when it to comes investing/trading opportunity, many of them can not be trusted.

In addition, it is advisable to maintain a low key appearance, reduce much interaction with friends and family about cryptocurrency, and exposure to social networks on crypto disclosure.

Potential gains are most of what I lost. I only worked for my coins but during the past bull run where I hold them still in the bear market, I lost my supposedly profit.

This is the risk when we listen to people who kept saying hodl. It's not good advice to follow when it's time to collect them. The market cycle will always cycle.

It can be just someone's agenda or own desire - Bitcoin should be hodled all day long, everything else - it depends.

This was exactly what I did after I had the experience, I had to withdraw from doing some kinds of things I had done before that somehow attracted eyes to me, I stopped talking about crypto to my friends for some time and did not let any public activities about crypto make me loose guard anymore. I had to be on the low key so I do not attract eyes to myself for my own safety. Although the experience was a terrible one because it was everything I had then that was taken. I learned a big lesson I would never be in a hurry to forget and I would never want or wish anyone to have such an experience.

Through the years, I have had been exposed to scams, frauds and mistakes that in retrospect could have already made me rich at least in my country's standard. In my estimated, I think I lost at least $300K mostly in terms of potential earnings primarily because I let go of my 2 Bitcoin maybe around 5 years ago and made many mistakes (including getting into bad programs and projects) that cost me good amount of coins and tokens along the way.

Just as the way it has always been with other forms of investments, whereby we make losses in them as we also make profits alongside, this same experience occurs in crypto that we lose and also make profits with our investment, some mistake for loss were as a result of our negligence and inexperience while some were unavoidable because we might not have seen them coming, however, it is more important that we evaluate that rate of making profits to be higher than that of making losses in crypto.

Agreed. Nowadays especially - crypto - is - the place where people try to fish info, get under your skin, send fake transactions, etc. So it's really important to stay alert about such things.

Anything indeed connected to the internet or online is prone to hacking and I do not doubt that the safety of our assets solely depends on how we properly store our sensitive information. Lately, I have been noticing something about these sets of apps being downloaded, they always want to have access by putting it up to the users of the apps to grant permission and access to pictures, videos, contacts, etc which has made me wonder because I could remember it wasn't like this before if I am not mistaken. We just have to be extremely careful apps we grant permission to access our device for our safety.

When you bought them with real cash, you'll have to trade them at some point. Not everyone has deep pockets like Saylor that could just hodl and buy more.

If in case you bought them using your excess cash, you could hodl longer than the rest but emergencies could happen that you'll need to pull out your investments.

OMG you really lost a lot of money feeling sad for you but I hope you must have made more than you lost in the crypto world as if it takes it gives too as you said. But the amount lost to the scammers and fradusters is one that hurts more because by taking things light we underestimate others and we fall into their hands and lose money.

BTW what was the story if you don't mind to share behind how you lost those 2 BTC 5 years ago. Including into bad projects and getting no result is bad and it must give us some idea of how project owner things as they also abandon the project mostly.

Many have the same mistake as you, and even I. I've got that mistake as well for selling Bitcoin too early and that's not just one or two but more than that. Still, I am just moving on and forgetting the past and as long as I was able to use that money for good at that time, they've been put into good use. I didn't sold them because I reinvested but I sold them due to the needs that I went through in the past.

This is sad, hopefully you make more in the future because I'm not sure if here is really big opportunities in the future to make that kind of Bitcoin again. However, I don't know maybe not having much has always put me in tight corners and avoid this kind of big mistake. If I ever lost $300k amount of crypto, I'm not sure if I will be able to recover, it's too huge to get back to be honest.

I think we learn everyday and some people that lost money are lessons for others. I have learn to make sure that everything I do in crypto is always by me, I don't entertain third party unless when necessary which the least can only be centralized exchanges and that I'm always careful about.
