How much money have you lost in the crypto industry?

Talking about ow much money have loss in cryptocurrency make me remember how bad tragedy of FTX exchange and Luna coin crash, in my country Indonesia of my friend invested their money at USTC to earn higher staking reward. Can't believing most of them loss much fund after USTC crash and take more than 24 hours unlock from staking feature for selling it, maybe most of my friend can sell their USTC under $0.6 after unlocking of USTC not directly.

Another bigger fund loss for user saving assets in FTX exchange, so sad heard how many people loss much fund due FTX exchange bankrupt and bad tragedy for cryptocurrency.

Well if you are going to count what is the most Btc I ever owned it was 17 btc.

About 12 dollars a coin or around 200 -205 usd.

That was in 2012. So if I simply held them I would have got up to 1.83 million when coins reached 108k.

So I lost 1.83 million usd.

If I go by fiat I am up maybe 200k since 2012.

Since usa government goes by fiat and I pay taxes that way. I say I made 200k over 12 years

I have been in crypto for sometime now, but i have never lost any money to scammers or hacked or collapsed exchanges. I believe when i joined the industry, i took the advice and recommendations i got very seriously and i also learnt about how scammers operate and how to avoid them.

That good to hear. It’s pretty obvious that the main reason most people in the crypto space (especially the newbies) lose money is often due to ignorance, misinformation and greed. These are the reasons why a scammer would make someone an offer that’s just too good to be true, but due to ignorance and especially greed, they’ll be unable to detect that it’s an obvious scam and they’ll just fall for it. That’s why it’s always important to stay informed on basically everything about the crypto space and avoid greed as much as you can, because you’ll be able to avoid losing money as much as you can.

I am sure many people gained a lot worth of money while playing in this very exciting cryptocurrency industry where huge opportunities and big risks collide...sometimes doing us some favor and sometimes also taking something from us. Through the years, I have had been exposed to scams, frauds and mistakes that in retrospect could have already made me rich at least in my country's standard. In my estimated, I think I lost at least $300K mostly in terms of potential earnings primarily because I let go of my 2 Bitcoin maybe around 5 years ago and made many mistakes (including getting into bad programs and projects) that cost me good amount of coins and tokens along the way.

In my case if I think I can't earn any money till now and I have stopped myself from investing till now.  There is no reason to lose my money as I have not invested. But there are many people who invest in wrong projects without realizing it, chances of losing money are high. But I will not make any investment until I am well versed. There is no point in losing money by investing without knowing.

If we look at what happens in our lives we can see how great is the significance of decisions regarding investments when they are made in a balanced way. The decision not to always sale every time we feel tempted often has a positive cut in the future as majorized by the statement above. Each point that is discovered keeps what one learns as a very valuable added value on each step taken. Of course, as with all learning through experience, it enables one to predict future market trends more accurately and then to minimise possible losses in the future. Two factors of sustainability are most notably involved in sustainable investment and they include perseverance.

Surely, losing is part of the process and it’s only those who do not really understand how the process works that’ll think or see losing as a completely bad thing. What’s more important is for the individual to learn from those loses, know and detect exactly what made them experience those losses and be able to avoid them next time. If this purpose is defeated then, the losses were bad after all because there was no lesson that was learned from that experience.

A lot has to do with belief in the products offered.

Myself I fully despise and do not believe in Eth or any pure pos coin.

Solana is linked to pow via helium hotspots mining so to me it is okay as a pos.

Eth is no longer linked to a pow blockchain so I believe its garbage.

So far it is well under its ath. So I am looking to be correct.

Btc has whaled since spring of 2021 so far my pow belief seems good.

Scrypt is still a great algo for asic mining. i simply trade my scrypt for btc.

I totally agree with you. What may seem to be a stumbling block may actually turn out to be the stepping stone that we require to attain the height that we so desire, but just like you said, it indeed requires the right disposition, perspective and of course motivation for this to be acknowledged. A lot of people get the wrong motivation from similar experiences, so many people have quit their crypto journey due to the losses they incurred, they feel if they continued, they’d continue to lose, thereby feeling unmotivated to continue, and there are those who actually know that losses are inevitably an important aspect of the crypto journey in other for you to be fully fortified for the future challenges and tasks ahead. It’s just a matter of perspective and disposition.

If we are going to include the potential profit under the loss category then I would likely be in millions now because In 2014 I had an opportunity to buy around few thousand of Bitcoin but rather decided to invest in a business that turned into a complete loss but if I did then probably I will be living in my private yacht.

In my case if I think I can't earn any money till now and I have stopped myself from investing till now.  There is no reason to lose my money as I have not invested. I think your decision is good there has no doubt. Because now market situation not clear to us. So we have to wait what will be market conditions. Our fund is very difficult to manage. So we have to more careful about coin selection.

There is nothing wrong in learning from a painful experience of losing your funds, however, i don't agree that losing your funds is part of the process. So many people have lost their funds in their early crypto days and they left the network and never came back. If you lose funds, fine, learn from it; but if you can prevent yourself from experiencing it, even better.

At the beginning of investing in crypto, I also lost funds due to lack of knowledge and experience at that time until I joined my friend's investment and finally failed. However, we must learn from our past failures and fix them.
Even in trading I often lose, but my wins and profits are higher than my losses
