$300k is not a joke, sorry to hear that. Thank God I've never been into crypto scams and frauds. I always DMOR to avoid those tricks. Lots of scammers are now in the crypto industry because they know that they can get a lot here. Your experience will be a lesson for me to continue what im doing, continue to seek and research before giving money to bad people.

You never know when the bad fortune would strike.

Keep on working and grinding, pal  8)
true, misfortune no one can predict when it will happen, especially as we know playing crypto has many risks where losses can be instantaneous and difficult to track if we are hacked or anything that smells of fraud. even though we have tried to be careful but if we are unlucky we will definitely suffer losses
how to prevent us from losing is to be careful, not carelessly clicking on suspicious websites or links. take good care of our wallet, because there are many scammers in the crypto world.
In investing in crypto we are always faced with risks, because the crypto market is difficult to predict and we also have to be careful with scammers.

And it's true, we have to be careful in doing things or transacting in crypto. Especially if there is an unreasonable offer, we should not follow it.

This is the problem, even though there are already a lot of sharing experiences from people about their bad experiences losing money because of some problems. But usually, when you haven't experienced it yourself, it won't have a big impact. And it still won't feel too bad or become a lesson if you haven't experienced it yourself. I personally, have lost several times, not because of links like that, it's just because of my own mistakes in analyzing the market and also in deciding something, and, be too greedy. And this, teaches me so much.

Does trading also count? If it does, then I lost more than $2,000 without a doubt, and even though it's a shame, most of it was in a single trade that I did out of FOMO, and I still regret it to this day. I wasn't a complete newbie in trading at that time, but I would say that I wasn't very experienced, as well. So, one day, when I was looking at the market, I noticed a coin skyrocketing. I kept observing it, and it kept going up, and that made me curious.

I thought to myself that I would make a quick entry and a quick exit with a large amount and come out with some profit because it is constantly going up, only to become a victim of FOMO. As soon as I entered, the coin started dropping sharply, and it didn't even give me a chance to exit with a small loss. I kept holding for pretty long, but it was a dying cause, and at the end, had to sell at a loss of more than 70% or something. It was painful. :)

Sometimes the idea of a fraudster comes faster than that of a person with good intentions, where various methods are used to deceive, especially for tokens that are experiencing fomo or hype, they will be more active in deceiving

how to prevent us from losing is to be careful, not carelessly clicking on suspicious websites or links. take good care of our wallet, because there are many scammers in the crypto world.
In investing in crypto we are always faced with risks, because the crypto market is difficult to predict and we also have to be careful with scammers.

It may seem funny to some people, but I believe if we were to stop using telegram, discord and similar platforms, the chances of getting our wallet drain by scammers goes down by 50%. I'm being serious here, the most suspicious links, phishing links, to good to be good offers I got were from these two platforms. And if you are not careful enough, there is a big change, you'll loss your things. Even there have been many cases where experienced users falls to shady tricks from these platforms. So IMO, it's better if we complete separate our activity when it comes to sites like these or completely stop using it, to prevent scams in the first place!

The loss I think I have made in crypto is selling my Bitcoin accumulation at different low prices last two years. Last two years, I think I sold some parts of Bitcoin when it was below $50k. If I had hodl them not to sell them till this time, I think I would have seen too many profits that would have me smiling always each time I remember the amount of Bitcoin hodl in my portfolio

This is quite natural since everyone is able to learn from the experience of others, especially in the case of high risks connected with the field of cryptocurrencies. Indeed, each post that is placed on the forum would without doubt have something that could help us to be more alert. The storeys that the various nurses shared makes one realise that caution should be exercised in all the activities, more so, where the offer is too good to be true. Providing that all has a basis and is amply documented will equally assist in reducing cases of loss. This means that one should avoid being rude and should not be hasty in making a decision while in this environment.

You still hold your Bitcoin from the bearish season? Even if you sold some Bitcoins below $50k, it means you still have some Bitcoins in your wallets. I think it was not a loss as long as you still could get the profits. You must buy the Bitcoin with a cheaper price, right? You only get a loss if you sell below the price when you purchased the Bitcoin. Sure, everyone wants to sell at higher price, but sometimes we have no choice that we must sell some of our Bitcoin for urgent needs.

He's probably talking about paper losses, assuming he held all that BTC until now or sold above 100K dollars. If he DCA'd during the two-year crypto winter, he'd still be sitting on some profits selling BTC at 50K dollars.

By that logic, I've lost millions of dollars by not buying BTC in 2010 and selling in 2013, then buying in 2015 and selling in 2017, then buying in 2018 and selling in 2021, and finally buying in 2022 to sell in 2025 when the BTC price is over 100K dollars. I don't dwell on that anymore—can't change the past, just gotta focus on the present and avoid getting rekt this cycle.

No doubt, every one have motivate for holding bitcoin as longer time and sell when breaking out most higher price, but urgent needed make us some time have to sell cryptocurrency between bitcoin or altcoin at lower price and most of us must cut loss for emergency fund needed. I remember well when investing at Doge coins during have lower price and must cut loss with loss around 20% of my capital but have urgent needed make its difficult without cut loss my cryptocurrency assets.
For every one firstly you must have saving fund if want investing in bitcoin or altcoin, when price still down and you have urgent needed not have to cut loss all your cryptocurrency assets or sell it at lower price.

If you want to hold for the long term, you must have free funds or reserve funds for emergency needs. because sudden needs sometimes make us have to sell our coins and if the market is down we will experience losses if we have to sell them.
free funds are needed for long-term holding.

Dwelling in the past will not make you feel better, so the best thing to do is to just move on, move forward, and adjust based on the mistakes that you've made.

I also made a mistake in the past where I didn't sold my tokens way back 2021 when the market is at it's peak. I lost the supposed profits that I can realize if I just sold it back then, but I was too dumb and didn't do it. Well, I already moved on from it, and now that we are in a bull run season (somehow), I will not do the same mistake again. As for what you've done, imagine buying Bitcoin at 2010 and holding it until now. I mean you can buy a building using your Bitcoin already (like literally, but depends on how much you bought at that time).

Still, kind of frustrating that you must be rich by now, but because of some wrong decisions, it will not happen. I guess it's destined, eh? :D

free funds are needed for long-term holding.
That's why not everyone can hold for long term.  Everyone wants to take the opportunity of high profit of crypto, due to which everyone jumps for investment but they don't think about their upcoming days how they will meet their need of money in emergency moment where they invest their money in crypto. Then they monitor the market frequently and panic when prices drop. And on the other hand they sell them at a loss for their emergency needs. So investing in crypto is the amount of money you won't need easily. In that case you will be able to hold them for a long period of time and only long term holding can get good out of crypto.
