Yeh probably not the best use of -karma, unless it's shitposting which is loosely defined on this forum as "posts with few words" as opposed to poor quality posts.

If you gave -1 to a user for a post you considered crap that's not going to be an issue overall. We're not reviewing every -1 here, only targeted -/+ karma towards a specific user, from a specific user. Negative karma should otherwise be for disruptive posts at a minimum, such as those intended to game the system or breaking forum rules, not just poor quality posts.

If in doubt don't smite others, that's my motto 

Think of this type of post as a reply, so when you come across several of these in a row, it's a bit tiring. OK, maybe I oversimplified things here, but I hope that what I'm trying to explain is understandable.
Here, it would be useful to see which post received negative (or positive) karma so that the person who wrote the post would recognize the poor quality of his post.

When you put it like that then sure I'd probably give -1 to someone who regurgitated a post of mine into "their own" words, as I'd find it disruptive to the discussion, as well as rude.

Note I didn't say it was a bad or wrong use of karma previously, I said just not the best use. There are enough users who believe in "curating" the quality of forum discussions with -karma, which is not something I'm opposed to, but it's not something I should advocate and encourage (as a global mod at least). The idea of what is disruptive or rude is also somewhat subjective here.

I've previously stated that it's ultimately up to the issuer to determine how to distribute karma, not me. The only real issue with karma abuse is repeatedly targeting the same user consistently, nothing else.

I dont have a notebook and pen to write exact time, date and member I give someone positive or negative karma, and I cant check that in my profile, so I dont see any use for karma now.
Is there a way for members to use forum without karma system?

Actually I agree with this just a bit maybe not fully but at least partially. I was at 149 karma and dropped to 148 karma.

Now we all know maybe I got 1 negative and 0 plus since I last looked.
Or maybe I got 21 plus and 22 negative. or any random set of numbers that reflect 1 more negative than positive.

So not to complain about getting that negative I realize I may post on a subject that annoys someone.

But I now do not know which of my posts earned that negative.

So I do not realize if
A) it is  a terrible post
B) it is a good post and someone chose to be nasty
C) some other reason


I do not get a chance to improve my posting since I do not know what post was attacked. I do not know if I need to improve my writing.

So I ask again will we ever get to know which posts were given negative karma?

Currently, the admin is working on the implementation of this feature. It is a little more sensitive thing, considering that changes must be made in the code, so it takes time to implement.

  I have an anti ETH stand.  I have made a lot of posts attacking Eth. So I can understand an Eth believer giving my anti eth post a neg karma.. But the not knowing if it was on an eth post or a perfectly good post that most anyone should like does remain an issue.

Sometimes, rarely people can give -karma mistakenly, thinking they are giving +karma. I do rarely get -karma. Just don't pay too much attention to that as long as you get more +karma. Things do happen.

Sometimes, rarely people can give -karma mistakenly, thinking they are giving +karma. I do rarely get -karma. Just don't pay too much attention to that as long as you get more +karma. Things do happen.

I did that on my cell phone but I saw it and fixed it. I can be fat fingered on a cell so it can be an issue.

It is interesting to start a story related to getting negative karma here. Users want to know where they went wrong or maybe they are just curious which other member of the forum dislikes and punishes them. For example, Bitcointalk does not have a demerit option, but there would probably be a lot of drama with that.

Social networks nowadays only show what you want to see and agree with, here on the forum there's no filter, it's interesting to talk to people who disagree with something, like you said you are atacking ETH, I'm sure there's a good reason too and it's important to know

I really wanted to see what would happen if I opened a topic in a fairly visible part of the forum - and after 24 hours and several tens of posts I got 0 karma. Maybe it's not the best indicator, but it shows that members are ready to leave their comment, but they don't think that the user who started the topic deserves to get karma even if the topic is obviously interesting.

That is something that depends on the perception of each user. It depends on how each user interprets a post or thread as valuable to them or to the forum as a whole, and for better or worse, the forum rules have nothing to do with that.  Therefore, each user's personal choice in giving positive or negative Karma can never be the same, as each user interprets things very differently.
