I greet una for this corner.
I just surprise say nobody even talk anything about the protest wey our people Dey plan to do from August 1st (wey be tomorrow) to August 10th with the tag “EndBadGovernance”.
I just want hear our opinion on the issue, whether we think say this protest go yield any result or we think say dem go still hire touts to take over the protest and disrupt am or turn am to riots. Make we just chuck mouth for the matter small.

Time for protests don pass because when them supposed protest na when this current president enter seat everyone wey dey want to protest now for stand up say we no need this man and he didn't win he manipulate result to enter seat but yet everybody keep quiet because them no wan die. So this one dem wan do means wetin? Abeg na medicine after death na just noise and Tinubu no get consciences for any people if you like go kill una self till him tenor ends nothing go happened instead price of food and other things go keep increasing.

I disagree with you that he did not win the election. If any other candidate win, likely people will also not agree. He lost in Kano and Lagos but this man still won. I am not in support of him when it comes to economy but he won the election. I do not like Buhari time and I do not like this man time but he won. I strongly support the protest if violence can be avoided.

Well, let this not be seen as we deviating from the main topic of the op, which is about the supposed protest that is supposed to start tomorrow, let me start by saying that the protest is one that I fully support, and I wish the youths of this country can so loud it that the government will have no choice but to yield to the demand of the people.
But on the other hand, I think SmartGold is right, tinubu clearly did not win the presidential election that was held in Nigeria in general, he clearly bought his way through, even he himself said it on a live broadcast that he know that the people of Nigeria did not vote for him, but the court has declared him a winner and nothing anybody can do about it.
The protest is one that is long overdue, and like smartgold said, this protest should have started the very moment he was announced winner of the presidential elections, but on the other hand, I understand that protesting at that time would have caused a lot of damage which may possibly lead to war, so, it's still better that the movement is coming now, but my only wish is that it be loud enough to really end bad government in this country.

He said he did not win in a live broadcast? That should be in YouTube. You can show us.
Just like I have said before, with what I saw, Tinubu won the election. The only thing that can be said about the election was that there was violence. And that is how presidential election has always been in Nigeria. I went through the states votes one after the other and I still saw it that Tinubu won. Most people on social media were not voting, all they have is mouth and to be posting on social media.
If you meant that he bought his way in. Politics is politics. Other parties are neither innocent.
My posts on Bitcointalk clear revealed that I am one of Tinubu critics after some months that he become the president. Social media even vote for Peter Obi that most of you wanted, but Atiku was still the second after Tinubu.

Op e dey very obvious say another group don already dey protest since make the general public no embark on the #endbadgovernance protest. The tin just dey anyhow, how people go protest make other no come outside come protest, though some persons go say Na because dem no want make endsars protest repeat itself but the truth Na besay dem fit don give those people small money for them to organise their self to make the first protest. The thing is that are government are forming hard ears and this protest aef fit no move dem, but to avoid am Naim dem dey find. Anyway make we watch and see how e go go.

I don't think if anyone here is answerable to predict if the protect will be hijacked or would profer good after all but one thing is sure that the youths ambition is to achieve positive returns out of it.
Although there are some dubious and short term goal dreamers amidst the youths who are if local self-esteem that the politicians can hire with petty engagements that would not even have potentials of guaranteeing them good futures who might be used to disrupt the protest.
As a citizen of Nigeria with the dream of how my future would be better, I also summon brighter future for my kids and the next generation to come, I sincerely supports the protest with my full energy and hope.
Indeed enough is enough. #endbadgovernmentinnigeria is the code.

There are two things I discovered from the plan protest. Ethnicity and Party Political or party motivated. Many states are saying that they will not participate because the organizers are not from their region while the other people say they are not participating because they are in the political party in power so they are not demonstrating. This are the major issues on ground kow if not the hard economy and cost of living is affecting everyone.
So most states are not partaking in the plan protest.
From what I’ve seen so far I don’t think people really cared about Ethnicity and decided not to partake in the protest - if you see anybody who refused to joined in the protest just know that it’s because of the fear of what happened in #EndSars protest, they are scared of it happening again not really because of ethnic groups.
If you see the government went ahead and deplored several military personnel to help calm the protesters but in reality that agony struck fear in the hearts of protesters and yesterday the NPF released a statement that they deactivated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Ikeja area (we still don’t know how they got that info about the device, if it was a false news to scare the people or not) - putting all of these into consideration I think it’s enough for people to want to withdraw themselves from the protest.

We know that in Nigeria election it is always manipulated and INEC gives the winner to whoever have bought them over and I don't see that as winning but an abuse of human rights. Did you vote for him, If NO then who voted for Tinubu.
It is good that the protest is being carried out so that the world and the government will see that citizens knows their right and if they are being pushed to the wall to much, they will react and this is a good start. I am in full support of the protest, imagine how this administration has turned the country into a country of abject poverty and sufferings for both government workers and non government workers.

People don die in Maiduguri. When the protesters were protesting peacefully without destroying anything and the Nigerian Police Force came and throw teargas on them so the protesters became angry and destroyed things. And another 3 protesters were killed in Kaduna again today as the protest dey hot. On this the protesters were unemployed youths were marching down to the government house when the unprofessional Nigeria police spray water cannons on them. And in the process of the chaos, 3 protesters were killed by the police. The IG should be arrested for this killing.
-
The IG should be arrested for this killing.
IG arrested? He be like you don forget country wey you Dey - the best that will happen is that they’ll lie that those killed did something wrong and trust me that issue will be swept under the carpet for life.
Regarding the destruction of property, the protesters also went to H&K pharmacy and destroyed property there that are worth more than 30 million dollars, sad that we’re hurting ourselves while the government we’re protesting against are in their mansions enjoying themselves.

There are elections that are not manipulated and there are some that are manipulated. One of the problem of educated people in Nigeria is that they have mouth. They will make mouth but if you ask if they have voters card, they will tell you no. Truly because they do not have voters card. The people that have voters card among them will sit at home on the voting day. Most voters are not literates. But regardless of what happened, I know that Tinubu won the election, but I know people from South East and some South South region that really voted for Peter Obi will not agree. We all know the reason.
Just like I have posted before, I am not in support of this man government with what that is going on in Nigeria. The economy is bad. Also standard of living is becoming poorer.

I just pray this protest don't turn out into violence. I believe the organisers planned it to be a peaceful protest which is normal but the truth is that anything protest in Nigeria is being hijacked alone the line. We remember how the end Sars protest started and how it ended. Hoodlums hijacked the process and turned it into something else which became uncomfortable to the point that even the organisers backed out if I am not mistaken. It is not a crime to protest if things are not properly done in the country but it wouldn't be safe if the process does not go as it was planned to.

Every good Nigerian citizen should support this movement because it's the only way we can bring attention to the government and pressure them to reform the country.
Whether he won or not, I believe this is not the time to discuss it because it has already happened and there is nothing we can do about it. Even the people who voted for him do not enjoy this administration. I know he's pretending not to be concerned about the protest, but I know right now he's not going to feel comfortable about it. During the Buhari era, Tinubu was totally in support of the protest, saying that if Buhari does not make significant changes, Nigerians will protest so I believe he understands how vital it is for citizens to protest against their government and that's why I support it.
I only support if e go truly be peaceful protest as dem talk, but my fear now be sey this 10days wey dey go do am because e fit con turn to something else and which e don start. How dey protest for Kano, Kaduna and Niger state if dem repeat am again na war go start because like this dey don get report of people wey don die from protesters and also Nigeria police.

Concerning the endsarz protest, it was actually the government that sent hoodlums that hijacked the protest and turned it into a violent one, if you search the internet, specially X (formally known as Twitter), you will find alot of evidences to this claim.
But then, coming back to the current ongoing protest against bad government, so far, my place is still very calm since yesterday, people are still going about doing their normal business, in fact, at the point, I thought there really wasn't a protest going on, but each time I enter online, I see updates from various parts of Nigeria on how the protest is fairing.
So far though, I personally am yet to hear or read news about any violence, except for one that they said happened in nasarawa where it was said that some angry mobs destroyed government house there, I don't know how true this is though.

Its not that people were not in support of the protest, you will only discover out that in this noble community, bitcoin users were less dependent on the government or their corrupt economy system and practices, so they are like paying lesser attention to the government instead of being troubled by their poor administrative management, but as for the protest, everyone supported the change in which we needed for a better governance for the people.

Na the truth naim you talk so, plenty person don dey less dependent on the government for anything, because them don already shift their minds from wattin the government fit offer in terms of work or change wey fit better the country. Some persons sef don give up if the country go ever better. Most of these person ma people wey dey do FX trade, crypto trade and some other remote digital skills wey dey demanding for the world currently. E go sweet if better government enter sit then make good change even if e no fit do everything, just make sure majority of the citizens dey comfortable and you are good to go.

Even those people you mentioned are still affected by the situation of the country - if you look back in the last few years you’ll see that those money we thought if we had them we’d be financially stable are not even enough to feed us for a whole year due to the crazy inflation in our country.
Back then if you had 5 million naira you’d consider yourself rich but now if you have that kind of money in your account it will still look as if you don’t have anything due to the cost of things in market. If the country doesn’t change those FXtraders and crypto enthusiasts you mentioned will just keep working and the economy will keep swallowing the money realized from it.

You are right and it is the same experience over here. Within my environment, there's no movement, every where is just calm and cool. No violence reported yet. Yesterday, the protesters were addressed by the governor and they were all happy to receive the government addressing them. This is how it is supposed to be, peaceful and calm, no violence reported.
Although I heard about Lagos were a mall was looted if I am not mistaken and other States were there was gun shots and others. What I just pray is that the process should not be hijacked by hoodlums and touts in the streets.
This possibility might have also pushed Ghana youths into same end bad governance protest. I heard it on one of the Ghana stations last night about the surprised Ghana protests. It is surprising that the African youths and nations are beginning to wake up and doing the right thing.

Yeah indeed they should be affected. Everyone is affected by the inflation rate but those persons i mentioned, they are less affected because they don't earn in our fiat currency, they earn in dollars or other cryptocurrencies with is not naira, so they might be living as though nothing has happened because as naira devalues to the dollar they are receiving higher value of naira which should be able to cover up their usual expenses. To be honest, this country is fucked and it'll take only the grace of God for this country to be repaired to what we once knew it to be. However let's see the result of the protest, if our president is compassionate enough to make good decisions.

The protest might be helpful to some extent but who knows that how good or bad results people of the country see because of the protest. Those politicians often have their plans to suppress such protests but still letting them doing whatever they want is unacceptable and I believe protest is the only way in such case.
-
From what had been seen all over the social media, the protest in taking along with other dimensions because its been hijacked by the hoodlums who have nothing to lose to take over the street and loot on other peoples properties and assets, in everything, there is always a good side and the other side which is bad, the nation have to face the reality that it takes force to exert freedom because its not given, but taken.

The looting was to be expected, I was opportuned to be in a taxi when the protest topic was brought up - and a man in the vehicle made a comment that sparked an argument, he told us that he was going to come out for the protest but his aim during the protest is not to block car or collect 10 naira from people before allowing them to pass - his goal that day was to go to shops he knows have goods that could be sold for good amount and break into it - he said if those people were also suffering as them they won’t just sit in their house and wait for them to protest. So for him, the breaking and looting is like a punishment for them not joining the protest.
Which is kinda stupid, how do you go out to protest and demand for a better governance and yet switch to destroy something that someone has spent their entire life trying to build just because they refused to join in the protest.

Nothing much is happening in the South-South and in the South-East of the country on protest. It is only in the North that a lot of destruction is happening based on the protest because I saw when some protestants were heading to Aso-Rock but were stopped. In Kaduna police station was burnt and some police were wounded. E come be like say na those people e dey pain pass for Nigeria because some part of the country no send the protest. Nigeria na suffering and smiling country.

In the words of Fela Anikulapo Kuti " everyday Nigerians are suffering and smiling" and this has been on for quite some time now and became worse ever since the inception of this government. So so promises every where and are yet to be fulfilled. Nigerians are just tired with the whole kangaroo play this time.
No doubt the protest is on but I think I should let you know that some southern states are a bit tensed up too. I heard some south eastern state too are tensed up too. As it stands now the protest is likely in every path of the country and the message is very loud and clear for the presidency to understand.

The image that best represents what Nigeria government usually do during elections.

I thought the protest ended after Tinubu went on television and read his script to the public - right now in my state people are moving freely workers have returned back to their jobs, I don’t know about other places but here we’re no longer seeing any signs of the protest going on.

The national broadcast would have settled the situation but I think it was not contrary to the expectations of the citizens hence it became tensed up. If you go online, you would see comments in response to the president's speech on Sunday. The president failed to address some certain things that was expected of him to do. All what he said was far from what the masses were expecting to hear from him.
Many were disappointed with the speech and it became worse this week. I was also wondering if the president took his time to vet the speech himself before coming out publicly to make the speech or they just hand it over to him the day of the national broadcast for him to just talk like that. I was just wondering because the speech was less the expectations of her citizens at this moment in time.

Things have even become tougher just after the protest. The cost of petroleum has gone up to 1000 naira per liter, and even the cost of a bag of rice has gone up as well. It shows that the protests did not have any effect on the economy but rather made things worse. I hear that there's another protest being planned for October, but any planned protest is a failed protest.
An issue in this economy is that it has reduced to amount of money that people have to spare for investments, now to invest, you have to make sacrifices.
-
but any planned protest is a failed protest.
What were we expecting when the president came out to give a speech that had been leaked in x before the day the he was supposed to give his speech? The last protest didn’t yield any result because they gave the government too much time to prepare against the protest to the extent that they were able to organize an anti-protest protest.
Despite all that’s currently happening, Nigerians won’t see it as an eye opener an vote for who will help develop the country instead they’ll go for someone that is able to share rice and money during his campaign period.

It was as if the protest triggered the increase in goods and services. The case is even worse than as it was before the protest, people are going through lots now than they used to. I began to wonder if this happened as a result of the government indirectly punishing her citizens for the protest action against them. On a normal there should have been some measures taken to stabilize the economy but the reverse was the case and no one could do anything about it.
Honestly, the country is in a reverse gear and it would take a long time with drastic measures to making sure things works out perfectly well with the economy. I also heard same about the planned protest but I think it would make things worst than it is now. I hope the organizers would be sensitive enough to see for themselves what their protest resulted to thinking of the disaster the planned protest would cause for the nation.

As it stands, our highest currency note can't even purchase a litre of gasoline in most part of the country. He actually said that he has heard our grievances, but the whole problem keeps getting worse on a daily basis. The last protest didn't send a proper message, and it's so unfortunate that some people lost their lives, and the country isn't heading in the right direction we all seek.
Truth is, there isn't any drastic measures in place in addressing the problem of the nation. The economy of the country started decaying a long time ago, so I wonder how things will begin to change of all a sudden. The problem of the country is that we all seek a president or representative that will come like a messiah, but that is clearly far from reality. The people that makes up the country is you and I, and seeing the extent of corrupt practices, just a single person can't change the country. It has to be a collective effort. I think the leaders are scared of protest, but it's unfortunate that this protest are hijacked at the end of the day.

The nation is on a stand still and it seems as if there is a halt in every activities because the economy of the nation is not in tandem. The economic policy have failed and not working anymore and our leaders are not bothered about it. They are just there to enrich themselves alone and nothing more.
The change begins with us only if we do the right thing at our level in the society whereby we make sure things are done accordingly and void of sentiment and the rest of the others that causes set back in the society.
There is one thing I have come to realize that at our own space, people take advantage of situations to detriment of the masses. Tell me how our own locally produced goods got to do with inflation, are the locally produced goods imported? There are some certain things we need to look into ourselves and do the right things and till then, the society would still be the way it is.

It's quite disheartening to say that those people died in vein because nothing has changed infact it has only escalated from bad to worse, the price of petrol today is 1350 naira per litre, it was even lower before the protest, the price of other things has also gone up, lack of electricity has moved up to a different level, I wonder if it's as a result of the protest because I can't just understand why things are now difficult In the country

The worst part of it is that the recent protest was like a complete waste of time. You see how the price of everything doubled even more after the protest. I was discussing with a business woman the other day and she was complaining in frustration. She said that they shouldn't have protested as now what she was buying has doubled in price and she is unable to buy even a little portions as she normally does. What is going on. Fuel keeps increasing over night? This is becoming out of hand. Is it that the government are no longer a little considerate? So many questions left unanswered by our poor governments. It's not fair.
Come to think of that the dangotes refinery was just lunched and has already started producing pms, then NNPC decided to shut the price of Petrol once more.
-
Looks like the tovernment didn't took time to make people chill out because nothing can be done about these prices really because its happening everywhere around the globe. All the money we have are pegged to USD which its value is also crashing.
What they are saying it that there will be global recession. Althiugh we are far away from where its happening but because our reserves are USD, we are all going down along unless countries like us figured a way to move. I think this is the reason banks all over the world are buying gold.

Even when other countries were doing well Nigerians had no plan to make the country better or should I say Nigerian government had no plan to make the country better and now that it’s a global issue do you think they’ll do anything about it?
The truth is that most Nigerians are just too corrupt to the extent that they can be bought for the cheapest price - and that’s why the protest didn’t yield any tangible results, but now that we’re all suffering lemme see if they’ll all still decide to fold their hands and watch.

No be lie the protest for make sense immediately after the election. But anyhow we thank Jah say e just happen even as the result already dey known before protest . Even police go help wound and kill innocent people.
This na thuggery, touts go take over any centre wey the people gathered to raise their hearts felt pains as usual (permit me to say)
But come to think of it, this thugs and touts, them no be 9ja people? This one means say Wen we followers ready for good government we go take over.
Some how the failure of the people by indirectly wanting bad government start during election.....! In various polling units, to center /ward, to local government, to state before federal and finally giving inec the power over we all.
I believe another election 2027 go make more sense. Cause if dey follow up elections, you go see say 2023 election dey very different from the others.

Well make i just say the only thing we need now is to vote wisely because na this things dey cause serious casala for we country because them no dey vote wisely and even those thugs no dey even use their brains because them don give them their share onto say them go use am gum body come make them dey kill innocent people anyhow them want, yet still forget say this so called government dey use their destiny dey shine for this county.

In as much as voting wisely is important, we won't really see it's transparency during a second tenure election of a government. Since when I start to get sense, all the government wey I know of, they allows run for tenure twice, i.e E dey rare for any governor or president to rule for one tenure and lose the next election. E come be like say the assigned number of years for every ruler na 8years, rather than 4years. But before this administration enter power, I come across so many people wey sell their vote on election day for money wey no reach N1500. We actually think say vote no dey count, but that's not always true for every election wey the president/governor na incoming. These politicians understand that the vote of the Masses matters, na why dem dey share money to buy the votes.

Trust me during the next election a lot of people are still going to seek their votes - so if the current government if able to give out free money and cash they are people that will collect and vote him as the president.
Take for example, during the protest if people could go out to protest against protest (lol) despite the hard conditions of the country what then will stop them for voting when bribed?

Mate!, This was the most disgusting thing I came across during that period of protest. I couldn't believe my eyes as it sounded too bad to be true, until I saw some videos that surfaced on the internet. The people who were protesting against other protesters didn't even look like people that are financially buoyant. They looked more like those who were hungry, and their hunger was used as a weakness. The government knows what majority of the citizens wants (money), so they use it in manipulating/luring those who are badly in need.
There is no way the government can buy the vote of a man who is financially buoyant, meeting the needs of his family, and understands how democracy works. In other sense, the government are not after those that can survive on their own, but are after those that are struggling to survive.

Actually most of them claimed that they had no idea of what they were about to do - according to the information they got, they were supposed to meet and have a little discussion but it turned out that they were to go and protest… if you check the video that surfaced on the internet you’ll notice one where the person that was supposed to speak and calm the public not to engage in any for of protest - the guy later started complaining about the hunger in the country.
There is no way the government can buy the vote of a man who is financially buoyant, meeting the needs of his family, and understands how democracy works. In other sense, the government are not after those that can survive on their own, but are after those that are struggling to survive.
See the government will always look for ways to exploit them - remember that they are also humans - if they government should meet them and give them a huge some [not the chicken change that is being distributed to the masses] you think they’ll still want to support “end bad governance rally”?… They are also humans so it’s possible for the government to still take advantage of them.
If you go to various polling units during elections you’ll see that those sharing the money and buying people's votes are not just street boys but instead men that are financially buoyant - you’ll see them in their expensive cars distributing money and calling people to the corner trying to convince them to vote their candidate.

Hmmm, Nigeria our home land protest have come and go but still nothing this government have done for the betterment of Nigeria's instead price of foods have increased, the suffer Ness have worsen for the people, but we hope say things go get better soon but is not easy at all.

If nothing is done or no action is taken to resolve this issue we will only keep on hoping for the betterment of the country without actually seeing any progress.
We have been hoping even before the election was conducted - we hoped the current president will enter and make significant changes (which he did but in the negative direction) and now we’re also hoping that the country goes back to its normal state.
Naija don pass the state wey only hope fit solve, if we nor put head together look for how we go take solve am the country go still continue to Dey suffer dey go.

Action they say speaks louder than words, but we find ourselves in a country where we believe that words speaks louder than actions. We are in a country where the government are not always aware of the problems that the citizens face until a planned protest have occurred. The government are so much scared of protest, but are still failing to do the needful.
Just like you've said, we've been hoping for decades, and our system and economy keeps decaying like a radioactive isotope. Nothing will be done except the citizens stand up to get their freedom and what they truly deserve. And also, I think Nigerians are waiting for a president that will come as a messiah and change the whole situation in a blink of an eye. This is not a movie. We have to start from somewhere and stand up for ourselves because no one will do that for us

Virtually every transaction as it relates to international relations are tied to dollar which I believe is possibly why the dollar dominance and it seems that the world depends on the dollar for everything. As it stands now, dedollarisation seems to be their resolve as some nations are beginning to come up with their own international trade policy to favor their own local currency and secondly, I believe if government of various nations looks into their own economy in strengthening their own local economy by encouraging local production and consumption of goods and services, there would be no course to get worried over importation of goods and currency price fluctuations.

The problem for Naija plenty and this particular protest no yield any result for us because even after the protest was still hijacked at some point, the presidential speech no address any of the matter wey people been dey cry about and that thing no make sense at all. I know say him go dey hide for back say without hardship there will not be joy but the matter not still be small thing as e dey affect the poor Nigerians wey dey feed from hand to mouth. This is more than two months after the protest and till now we never hear anything about the matter wey lead to the process, things just dey hike and for this naija if something don go up, e dey very hard to come down and na something wey we need to also look into be that. Make e no be say, it’ll either get worse or remain like this, e go hard wey some people go survive am sha.

President came out gave a speech that was leaked before the day and what did we as Nigerians do? We all sat down watch the news and said to ourselves “it will get better” - see Nigerians are not cooperating that’s why this shit is still happening, imagine in a country where hardship is killing its citizens, some people decided to go on a movement and let the government know that we’re suffering, instead of other citizens to go out and join them they refused saying “it’s not affecting me so I don’t see any reason to go out”.
Well, I don’t see any change coming to the country anytime soon so we might just have to start preparing for the worse because with the way the country is being handled I think this is just the beginning of the hardship.

Anyways just as I see the post I been wan pass onto say the topic and the date for the protest Dom pass but I no go pass when be say the things on things wey lead to this protest still stand gidigba for ground still carry two legs dey waka peacefully. Before this protest start for that 1st of August for my work place me I talk am say this protest no go work anything for Nigeria instead after the protest things fit come hard more for the country for us oo them say I dey talk out of knowledge especially my oga wey too sabi.
But e no sweet me say my word gain victory, e pain me say things come dey more worst than the way e been dey, prices of goods come dey very costly any how.
To be honest peaceful protest no go solve anything for Nigeria people still dey there dey chop our country money while na the common man dey panic. No be yesterday wey tinubu wife come campaign for my area wey people just dey worship her dey fill form wey Dom no go pay. Bible talk am say my people perish for lack of knowledge shebi as that woman come so everybody dey inside house no gree come out them go come drag them? Dey ur house make them know say no joy she come share 2k people happy where that one wan go Africans believe in palliative too much
October 1st protest still changed nothing but people died are there names recorded are they heroes? No, lives just wasted why can't we learn from Ghana and be one minded. If Nigerians like make we protest from now till thy kingdom come nothing will change. It takes wisdom to achieve.

As it is said, I blame those who are used by the politicians to create hardship in the country. Such as the police which is the organ with poverty don't know that it is the citizens can liberate them from the shackle of oppression but they prefer to join hand with those who are suffering them to suffer the citizens who can save them from poverty. The two protests were to liberate the country from collapsing but the police arrested and didn't allow the people to demonstrate a peaceful protests in the Nation. And like I said in one of the social media platforms, if I am selling something and I know any police man is coming to buy something I will not sell to the police family.

Police are the lowest level of citizens in Nigeria because they are slaves to the politicians since they have bought them over. Majority of the problem that is happening in Nigeria are the cause of the police. This is because they are corrupt and can no longer give the common man safety anymore. Police are cowards because they cannot fight for their right neither will they also allow the citizens to fight for their right. Politicians uses them as backups to their evil and pay them peanuts. How do you think the country will move forward when the law enforcement agencies are the ones against the law.

The Police and other security agencies reports to the Presidency and not only that, they are dependent of him as he is the one who appoints them hence their loyalty towards him and are ready to take whatever directives coming from his office. This is the reasons why things are like this. When the military and paramilitary heads are being appointed, they can not work independently, they would have to dance to the tone of their paymaster to making sure he is satisfied with their services. This is the case of Nigeria security organization and it will continue to be like that till they are independent on their own anything out of this would not work out well..

Though, I don't know much about how the appointment process works, but shouldn't security chiefs/head acquire any position base on ranks?. Because I clearly see no reason why the presidency will make choices on certain organizations that suppose to operate on a certain level of neutrality, i.e they work for the interest of both the government and the people. It's just like having an INEC chairman. It's totally wrong for the presidency to appoint INEC chairman because this body ought to be neural. This government are just too smart. Their target is to weaken the system is such a way that it can favor them, and the citizens don't even take note of this little detail.

It seems you have a very big personal issues with police people and their family, your reasons for that may be valid though. Police are under the government and have sworn allegiance to be dutiful and respectful to those that are in power, by violating their orders means they cannot be trusted to have the controls and protection of life and properties of citizens. Nigerian is yet to get to that stage that liberation will take over, that is when the police won’t have the power to stop the people from revolution and most of them will also follow in it and make the rule and order in the country at that time not valid. Nigeria is far from that and we can’t blame the police for doing that doing the protest.

Politicians are this smart though but that is a normal thing every politician would want to do if the opportunity avails itself and if they can be able to do such to suit themselves as well they would do it. They always wants to get everything under control so that nobody takes them unawares. It is amongst the strategy they use little wonder they are against constitution amendment as it relates to appointment of status head of agencies because they know what would become of them if such happens.
Normally, such office should be the most senior officer attaining the position as a result of merit and other criteria but the politicians do not want it because of their ill motive and the fear of revolution, revolt and possibly other activities that may threaten their government hence they do appointment their loyalist in that field or sector to head so that they can comfortably do whatever they want.

Person wey boldly tell the whole country say “I must win” and he still win nai you say we nor know say he nor go do anything?
The reason he contested for presidency is not for the development of the country he just wants his name to be there among the people that led the country and not because he had great intentions for the betterment of the country. His opponents back then had few plans for the country but still people were blinded by money that they voted a daft man to rule the whole country and now both the supporters and non-supporters are suffering it.

My bro, Nigeria as a country is literally far from democracy. Just imagine a candidate emphasizing that "it was is turn", as if presidency has now become a seat for anyone who have what it takes to earn it, and that's what it has truly become. He keeps telling the citizens to have patience and endure the hardship without even stating the plans on ground to solve the economic crisis. It's obvious that the current administration will condemn the country further for another 8 years, and also bring a successor to continue from where they stopped. Very shameful.

I don't know how the discussion come to this stage but let put mouth for here to make scores. Nigerian democracy died in the hand of APC from the first day they took over the leadership in the country. To some extent democracy was practiced in the hand of PDP as of then but I don't know of now if they still take over. In Nigeria, INEC and the judiciary determine who would become president and the police and army completement or execute the plans of the two institutions to protect their interest.

The current ruling party has shown others how politics and dictatorship is run. I doubt if anyone other ruling political will be ever transparent to the people again. When the last ruling party where still very much active, it was a "you chop - I chop" era, which means they where working to some extent and also stealing. But for this current ruling party, the chopping dey one-sided.
It's this same ruling party that paralyzed protester's right, and make protest looks like something illegal. I remembered vividly from the last protest that was organized. The TUC said they won't join the nation wide protest, just because they don't know who is sponsoring it, Abeg, e get where protest for they get sponsors?, If no be the illiteracy and corruption wey they done enter every sector, which has made so many to see their right as crime, watin concern protest - concern sponsor.

One thing I know is that the country is not for the people and since the current president wasn’t chosen by the citizens (you know what I mean) then it’s definitely not a government by the people and of the people.
So if you put that into consideration and the way things are being done - and a government that said even if the citizens protest that they’ll still do what’s in their mind should also tell you about what we should classify them as.
The “democracy” in this countries government is only there as a name and not in their actions - the way they behave is that of a dictator and not a democratic government.
The citizens mouth are being shut and nothing can be done , k don’t think we have any right in this country with the way things are going - you can’t do anything and the military personnel are behaving as if they are the right hand men of God ; I have seen in clips were citizens questioned police officers and they were very respectful and answered the questions but here you’ll have them beating citizens as if they are in a cattle ranch beating cows.

I too have been wondering and asking myself this same question you have asked. It would be very difficult to do so as long as the cartels and cabals are still in charge of the system and structure, there would never be a system of government in Nigeria void of irregularities when it comes to syphoning and embezzlement of public funds. The previous political party was a "you chop I chop" system of government that was in play and it was far better than this current and previous leadership and system of government.
It is obvious this current system looks one-sided and marred with irregularities since inception. The inflation on the economy is so devastating that it can not be controlled anymore and our currency is on the free fall since her inception making it more weaker in exchange with the dollar thereby causing total economy inflation. The system is so weak that they have nothing to boast about anymore.

It's quite disappointing, because from a civilized sense, the literate ought to lead the illiterate (at least in most cases), but in our case, it's quite the opposite. The last time I checked, politics was never an occupation, but in this country, people actually do it for a living. Just imagine the presidency doing everything in their power to deliver a state to their own political party. A time will come where the entire 36 states will be ruled by a single political party, which is same as the ruling party itself.
The national power grid collapse more than 3 times in a space of 1-2 weeks, and it does even sound like a massive failure to the ears of those incharge. It seems the country is quite use to massive failures.

The country is a joke to say. A country where illiterates rule literate's and the worst of them all is that the literates are the electoral heads that ought to have been able to correct the abnormalities during elections but they let themselves to be used by the powers that be to short change and mar the process in favor of their candidates. It is quite unfortunate to say and nothing can be done about it as everything has now been monetized since it would be difficult to effect changes, they would just take the rewards attached to sort themselves out leaving the masses to their own fate.

How ironic that in some instances education and intelligence does not appear to correspond with honesty specifically in the process of elections. What happens when people who have the knowledge and power to change things get carried away by power and self-interest? We get what happened to public trust. In fact, if all stakeholders strive to uphold clean values in elections, then the result is very huge and positive to the welfare of the larger society. That is why we all desire a real change of power when justice and honesty will be above the selfishness, to build a better life for all of us.

This is to tell you that no matter how educated a person is, they can never cover up their character. When it comes to elections, it is everyman for yourself and stomach. They already know the people that would approach them to lobby them and they know they would forget them when they get to the office so they take what they feel they can before they get to the office. That's the situation of things in this country.
It will take the Grace of God and the Heart of a committed person ready to effect the change through the elections to get hold of such position because the politicians already know themselves and would always want their supporter to take charge of such position.

Time for protests don pass because when them supposed protest na when this current president enter seat everyone wey dey want to protest now for stand up say we no need
Nigeria has gone pass the level of protesting as a country because it will fall on def ear just look at the innocent youths that was killed during the last end SARS protest what has happened to their killers and what has really changed from that time till now has police brutality stopped no instead it's even increasing. Protest can't work in Nigeria as our leaders don't have a listing ears they are not sympathetic to the cry of the common man, what's actually needed in Nigeria currently is revolution we need to declare war so that these old politicians will be killed or put into prison as that is the only way out as protest will not work

Yes you are very correct because lot of things have been going on in the country and if going by protest I don't think there will be changes in the country but I think a kind of revolution would actually work perfectly which in other way round the results for total elimination of the old lineage rulership. When this happen there could be fear on the eyes of the politician and they will make an adjustment allowing the Young youth or people to rule instead of being hijacked by the old people but, one thing for sure is that if the country is sub divided into three then each of them managing the resources and it will be better whereby there will be competition between the sub-countries which try as much as possible to make sure their country stand out or remain the best among the three countries.

We all know the bitterness that comes with the feeling that voice of the people has not been given the credit it warrants. The scale of the tragedy and the obvious violations of people’s rights require an actual change, not rhetoric. It is time for us to unite and work for our incorporation, for our leaders to listen our common desire for a new, safe and dignified life.

It is now time for people to unite so that those we elect and choose can recognize our voices and value them in everything being decided regarding our future. To this we pledge our unified efforts and make a life that is safe, dignified and free from conflict a life that is capable of giving every person hopes and dreams of a life with out conflict. Only the real action that is taken implies the real change that will define our future surrendering to a better life that we need.

Wetin dey happen nw be say economic situation wey everybody dey face dey cause financial crisis wey everytin don get cost, and government no dey look into d matter well well. People try to protest, but dem efforts no dey yield result. People dey face serious problem, and dat's why we need to shine our eyes well before we choose leader, because na we be d ladder wey dem take climb reach power, but dem forget our effort and focus on dem self and family.
Na true you talk my broda, we suppose come together, nd unite, so dat we go fit achieve our goals. We need to tink well b4 we elect our leader. I suggest make we elect young people wey still get strong brain and body, wey go fit make strong decision wey go bring growth and development to our country. I think say old people wey dem elect be part of d problem wey dey affect our country, becos dem no get d strength, both physically, mentally, and socially. Dem no get d capacity to carry d responsibility, and dem thinking no dey broad. Psychologically, dem emotions no dey stable, and dem always dey think negatively, dey think say make dem gather money for dem family before dem die.

Protest is not bad to do, but it has to be done with a serious caution because of the impediments that comes after any of the protests taken place, first there must be some set of people to coordinate the protest in other not to allow the hoodlums to hijack it for loots on the innocent citizens as well of any forms of violence, then there be be a clarity in what is being projected in demand from the protesters and the channels to use in conveying the same challenge information to the appropriate targets, which are the leaders.

These measures are always put in place, but the government always gives protests a different face, dividing the people and making it impossible to achieve the protest's goals. The protesters are always fighting for a just course, and the most recent protest did not yield any result because the government is concerned with their personal interests, and so regardless of the gravity of the protest, the government will not always accede to the demands of the people.
Instead, based on previous experiences, the government will pay some people to destroy public properties to make it look like it is done by the protesters so that they can send the Army against the protesters to scare them, and this method has been working for them.

With critical observation, you will agree with me that in every protest the youths of the country has ever come up with ends up making things more difficult for everyone, and yet, with no positive change or impact. The cry of the people doesn't affect the leaders of this country in anyway. They are dead on the inside, with a pretending smiley face.
The touts mentioned are also youths of the country, does it mean they are not in the heat? They are of those who wants to eat now, not bordered about the next 3/4 hours.
At the total end of the protests, it amounted to nothing. Its pains me for the lives that were lost in the protests that has ever been held for the chase for a good government for the betterment of the citizens of the country.

for me i don't think the protest will take place base on the previous one,i sense most of those crowds coming are hired at the end the major target will not be archieved,i dont see this generation to end bad governance because we are not unity,so in conclusion we can't fight against bad governance.

There has never been a time in Nigeria that protest yielded positive results but rather the situation becomes worse. The last protest held was a shamble of itself and did not achieve its aim and purpose for which it was held and unfortunately, after the protest, the price and cost of goods and services went high times two of already existing prices so tell me how do you think protest works here in Nigeria. The worst aspect of it is that the process is always hijacked by opposition and it ends up being flawed.

In the eyes of the rich, the tears of the poor are worthless, their opinions are countless, their suggestions are meaningless, their economic situation is their problem, because they think poor people's lives are useless. I know that the protests will not bring positive change, but rather negative consequences. After protests, the prices of commodities often rise even higher, as if the protests were intended to increase prices. I was also thinking that leaders, the system of government, and politicians won't unite to remove Bola Ahmad Tinubu from power because they are also guilty, and their conscience will haunt them. because Tinubu may or will also know some of their secrets, and if he is removed from power, he'll expose them, so he won't go down alone. This might be the reason why they're backing off and ignoring the tears of the poor.

The statement of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, that when Nigerians are protesting they will be eating, reveals everything about the government's attitude toward protest. The government is not always remorseful for the people's suffering, and after protests, they even try to make things more difficult for the people in order to punish them for protesting as you noted.
This is bad for a country that claims to be developing. How can development happen when people's demands are ignored and, in some cases, killed for attempting to press their demands?

Sorry to say this but it is of course the reality. The thoughts of our Leaders are that of evil and evil only, they are primarily concerned with enriching themselves and their family nothing more so whether we pull up for protest or not, nothing concerns them infact if the protest later hold them no go even listen to anything at all they are fully really to protect their names even if it means shooting down the protesters. God will hlep and protect us in this country Amen and Amen
