Technical Discussion / Re: Do you use a password manager?

You wont get a virus by watching instagram or tiktok videos.

However, you can click in a malicius link from an instagram account, click something wrong and then boooom.

It just takes one mistake to lose your funds.

I had an experience a few months ago, and it was a very funny one, though, and how it occurred is what I am trying to understand till this moment because it looks like a potential threat to my device. I was watching video and it happens that it was when I was about tapping the screen to activate a command that was when an add popped up and it happened like I clicked the ads and it was just loading and loading without stopping and immediately I had too forcefully switch of my phone to forstall any further actions or command prompt it would activate so it doesn't cause harm to my phone and the funny thing is that I did not really see what I clicked and it just happened like that. That was how I escaped what I had no idea about, and I still could not explain what I clicked then till this very moment.

Bitcoin can be the only trusted coin that could guarantee profit returns over time as a result of its utility value, and over the years, I have seen Bitcoin appreciate in value from the least to the current price it is today. As a result of its utility value and the fact that it is the first cryptocurrency to have existed, it gave an edge over every other coin in the crypto industry and dominated and is currently the highest and most expensive crypto in the world, with a constant increase in adoption and recorded daily online blockchain transaction.
Every coin that you can think of has a risk but Bitcoin is the only coin with risk that doesn't have haters, it doesn't have time to do competition with other coins, it's the only coin that others fomo into when there is bull run and nobody complain but if it's another coins or altcoin that is having that fame, some people don't want it but Bitcoin is exceptional investment.

Bitcoin is a first choice and that only choice everyone want, this is why it's the best and there is guarantee of profit but you have to hold after some certain period of time because holding isn't easy with Bitcoin, it's a very tough journey but if you can hold, you will enjoy it.

Of a truth, Bitcoin guarantees profit, but as a Bitcoin enthusiast, you will have to weather the storm before you could be able to get the profit you desire. The journey of Bitcoin is very rough if you wish to know, but it pays to hold onto it till the end because only the patient dog eats the fattest bone. The bear and bull are always a cycle that can never be avoided in the crypto space, so anyone going into the space should prepare their mind to undergo the shock and all that comes with being enthusiasts and a holder as well, but it is always a thing of joy to make a profit at the end after all the hurdles in holding for long.

No coin is guaranteed for profits in the long run which makes me feel that we are risking our hard earned funds into some shitcoins or so. We can tell which coin will last longer in the market with a potential increase in price, because what I have observed is that, there are some old coins that depreciates gradually overtime. If you invest in such coin and you are happy that's s still in the market, you will run at loss in the long run. Only bitcoin has the high odds of uptrend movement in price than downtrend movement.

Nigerian Languages / Re: Bitcoin as a method of Payment
« on: April 30, 2025, 09:16:21 PM »
The world is evolving and only those who decides not to move along with the current trend are the ones left behind. On this, the crypto/digital world has become the order of the day, whereby everyone who knows the value and importance of Bitcoin to financial growth and freedom will want to make their earnings in Bitcoin.

Do you guys think Bitcoin can ever be used as a means of payment in Nigeria for both private and government sectors?
Where the employers are aware of the value of Bitcoin and its price fluctuation, or if it is being considered, do you think they will want to make an alternative to Bitcoin and probably make use of USDT, which is a stable coin in other to maintain a steady price that is used on monthly basis?

Will like to hear your contributions on this.

Yes, of course, I have no doubt Nigerians would begin to accept bitcoin as a means of payment, looking at the current naira-dollar pairs or exchange rate and the way it fluctuates. As a matter of fact, the government just approved and announced that crypto is now legal in Nigeria, and that makes it very fast for organisations to start accepting Bitcoin for the payment of goods and services.

In terms of business acceptance, the private sector, I think, would be quick to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment because of its nature. They would prefer it just to bypass the fiat system as they are ripping so much hell at a time, except the government prohibits such to happen otherwise, no well-informed organisation would still depend on accepting fiat as a means of payment, looking at its depreciation rate at the moment.

It is a tough economy, no doubt, but can we continue to complain to a government that is the cause of the problems and does not care? We just need to keep finding ways to survive, and one such way is shifting from being just a consumer to being a producer or wholesaler.

It is difficult to survive here, but not impossible.

You are right, and this is the same thing I told my friend that complaining to the government would never solve the problem of poverty, inflation, etc but taking a bold step to being self sufficient by producing and solving problem could help one be in a good position to earn good money to sustain him/herself in this harsh economy.  The government now does not care how the citizens fare, our leaders are just there for themselves, and they do not bother with the happenings because they have nothing to lose anyway.

I will say that anyone currently depending on the government for anything has no plans for themselves, it is better to start up a mini business than to wait unto the promises of politicians that can not fulfill their promises during their campaigns.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: eXch to shut down
« on: April 29, 2025, 09:48:25 PM »
It is unfortunate that they would have to shut down this way, as it was not their fault that the Lazarus group used their platform to transact stolen assets. They had no idea, and I believe if you ask them too they would say the same but fate just held them ransom this way and they had to give up their position in the industry but I believe they would bounce back and in another form so that the government do not come after them again.
I'm not exactly sure what pressures eXch is facing that led them to cease operations, but it seems like everything stems from their actions when they were exploited by hackers in the Bybit incident. eXch chose to remain neutral and didn't intervene, which led to them being seen as accomplices and enablers of the hackers.

I'm not saying eXch's actions were wrong, but it's quite risky for the fate of these CEXs. Governments don't want this to happen again, CEXs that don't implement KYC will be in the crosshairs of regulations. Anonymity is no longer as prioritized as transparency and cooperation!

I believe exch had no idea of such happening on their platformand besides their platform is an anonymous platform and there is no way they could be able to know who did that and it could be that they are just being guided by the principles on which they run the exchange on to remain anonymous and they choose to exit the market with no plans of coming back anymore.

We all know that the government can go to any extent to make sure they frustrate any exchange or organisation that wants to go against their policy and exch is not the first to have suffered such and I believe this was the only issue that gave the government the force on them bending them to exit the market. If I may ask, is Exch the only platform the hackers used to launder the money they hacked from Bybit? What about the other platforms they used If I am not mistaken, has anyone heard anything about the others till this moment?

Nigerian Languages / Re: What do you think about the minimum wage?
« on: April 26, 2025, 11:07:03 PM »
~
This is very true. You shouldn't expect the firms under the private sector to pay above what they can afford to pay all in the name of meeting up to the minimum wage. The private sector also suffers the illness of the system too and they are run for profit also.

Infact the kind of job and it's sector actually determines if the pay should be up to the minimum wage or not because a low budget private sector doesn't even have enough workforce to warrant a minimum wage.

You also have a great input to this but don’t forget that some private sectors make use of their workers much more than what they’re paying them as wages monthly. Some private sectors even when they can afford the minimum wage won’t want to do it because of their greediness.

They want the maximum input into their works but won’t listen to the hearings of their workers because they feel they don’t have a choice and there is no job outside for them. Those are what they leverage on and I don’t blame them but the failed system that hasn’t provided enough work for its citizens to enjoy from.

Those that can pay should be forced to pay while their that can’t should at least give them in equivalent to the effort they’ve putting in. With the rise in minimum wage, everything will begin to skyrocket and they’ll adjust to the current minimum wage payment of civil servants which is bad and market people are find wanting more with this kind of behavior.

True, that some private sectors overwork their staff, but it is left for the staff to place a demand for their welfare package if they want to, in consonance with their input. Unfortunately, the system is so bad that workers going through such a terrible experience can not speak up for fear of being sacked, because if such happens, it would be very difficult to secure a job because of the current situation in the country so everybody is just holding onto their jobs very tight, irrespective of what they go through, they say "a half baked bread is better than none". This is the reason why it seems that some people would still stay with organisations that overwork them, because of job security, as no one wants to make the mistake of leaving their job at a moment when there are no organisations out there recruiting.

No need for justification here  the truth is always bitter. This is a situation of people taking advantage of events to undo their fellow citizens. It's just that the government agencies are not proactive otherwise most of these happenings wouldn't even exist. The agencies too have compromised their standards that they can not be able to prosecute marketers manipulating price of commodities. It is unfortunate the situation we find ourselves in this country.

If it was a country where the system was actually working the way it was supposed to work then all these issues of price manipulation whatsoever won’t have been happening. The government, regulatory agencies and those in production or distribution are all to blame for it.

Have you seen where a crooked person would blame his croony with whom he has conspired to carry out an act? This is the situation here; the government officials all know the games they play in between pretending that they don't know anything about what is happening. Let us take a look at the oil industry, will you say that you do not know what's going on in the country's oil sector, or do you feel those men are just there for nothing? Most of the heads of those agencies are the puppets of men in power, they just put them there to be able to oversee activities on their behalf and to do the needful in pushing their business forward.

Make wejust tell ourselves the truth, na we dey do ourselves all these things. Demdey importpur water? abi na localproduced agricultural produce? abi dem dey import gari? abi na vegetable leaf dem dey import ?

Dem no really need to import Garri or other locally produced goods for am to dey expensive, most of our production processes dey dependent on some of those imported items and if the price of dollar or any other thing related to importation increase indirectly those locally produced goods supposed to increase too.

Although, some of them still dey wey no suppose increase but if farmers reason the cost of living and how much their products actually worth them gats increase am so that dem go fit meet end needs.

No be lie sha, if we look some things way the price de high, which e no suppose to de high, e de make person vex, but no be the sellers their fault. Pure water company de buy materials to take make production, them go put price, sellers way de buy from them go needs make profit. Local farmers na suppose de sell things a bit cheaper, but when Dem de buy, things way Dem de buy de costly, and gats buy to survive, and also increase price to fit buy other goods way Dem need.

The whole things done choke up on everybody. The cost of rendering services sef na another one way person no oh fit talk put.

Gambling discussion / Re: Did you ever try to stop gambling?

Yes when one approach gambling like they can not do without it, it would be obviously clear that they are addicted. I will agree with your opinion that not only people who lose games are addicted, both constant and regular winner's to could be addicted because they too play everyday and luck always is on their side so they win game's too regular. Nobody would say much about them because they win but those who constantly lose are the talk of the day as there is no impact they have made and that would result to them being called all sorts of names.

True, when issues of gambling addiction arise, minds are always drawn to the loser because losses are visible and undesirable outcomes. Even this causes people to criticize gambling because losses are always viewed as products or gambling, providing a foundation for criticism.

However, winners are always recognized. A person who encourages someone to stop gambling simply because they are losing may be tempted to gamble again if another gambler wins. Winning covers addiction and that is why a gambler who is winning is never pictured as an addict.

Winning cover's addiction for those who constantly win but I wonder why they are not criticized because most of them are the reasons why some gamblers likely get addicted because when they see them keep winning, the others would become motivated to keep gambling forgetting that luck varies for each and everyone as the case may be.  However, that does not mean that because they are winning back to back, they shouldn't look into curbing their gambling excesses, as a matter of fact, they have to because the moment they start recording losses, that is when it would dawn on them  that they are addicted to gambling.

Gambling is not an addiction; it is a game, and everyone who plays it is likely to get addicted if not principled and disciplined. Addiction comes as a result of excessive or abusive usage or patronage of something that one deems enticing, as it pleases them. It is normal that the winning ratio while gambling is very minimal and as a matter of fact, the odds are always in favor of the house, so the tendency of one winning a game is minimal so it will be in the best of interests for gamblers to always gamble with caution because not everytime games enters in their favor.

Gambling isn't an addiction but when you approach it any how, you will get addicted to it whether you are making money from it or not, you can become addicted to gambling but the general aspect of it is only people that makes losses and don't quit are the ones that are been noticed most of the time and discuss to be the only problem and that's not the case.

There are people that are making good amounts of money from gambling but can't stay away from gambling a day, those kind of people can be consider to be addicted to gambling because they can't do without it but they are not discuss well enough like the losers.

The worst part be say even when dollar and fuel go down the retailers e no want to bring their prices come down again. When fuel prices been dey 1,500 there were some places were been dey pay 1000 and now that fuel done come down this drivers no want bring down the prices again and them dey keep am like that. APC Nai come spoiled this country to this extent. APC deceived the whole citizens that they came to salvage the country but the opposite nai we dey see like this.
I never see anytime wey cost of commodities dey reduce anytime e go high. As you see this country ehn, na we dey do ourselves to be frank. Wetin you wan tell me na, say cost of petroleum product dey reduce wey dem dey talk say na wetin dey make things price high because of transportation and so. okay we hear now wey petrol price don come down why the cost of those commodities never come down till now?

Make wejust tell ourselves the truth, na we dey do ourselves all these things. Demdey importpur water? abi na localproduced agricultural produce? abi dem dey import gari? abi na vegetable leaf dem dey import ?

Gambling discussion / Re: when do you “refill” your budget
« on: April 25, 2025, 09:28:04 PM »
This aspect of gambling is very crucial in a gambler's life because this serves as a guide and keeps the gambler in check, as to know when to cut excesses or take a break. Having a budget would help limit too much spending on games and also put the gambler on check. People's gambling budget varies depending on their income level, and I believe gamblers who budget stick to their budget plan because they are responsible gamblers who know what addiction is all about and would not let that make way into their lives, because it is very devastating and diminishes on to the lowest level they never envisaged.

I think that the statement, gambling is not an addiction is a misrepresentation of the happening to many civilised persons. They are those who do not know when to stop despite the losses that they are experiencing and it is not due to a problem in impulse control. It is a phenomenon that works within the human brain to increase the urge with time especially when one has a glimmer of hope of making some huge winnings. Although it does not apply to all humans it does not subscribe to the fact that many are cordoned within a net and do need assistance in extricating themselves. Another point I can envision is that gambling with money should not be entirely baseless and that gambling rules should have a framework consisting of outside the gambler’s head bounds and within head regs. I think that to start with knowing when to draw the line is better than constantly pursuing what one may never achieve.

How does this  "Gambling is not an addiction" mean a misrepresentation?

Do you mean now that every gambler is an addicted gambler?

Gambling is just for fun, but when done in excess could be an easy lead to addiction. Gamblers get addicted most time because of their pursuit to recover their losses, and those who see it as a means of revenue or profit-making would always want to gamble so they could make a gain, but the more they gamble, the more addicted they become. These are the basis on which addiction sets in, so I do not think gambling is addiction, but when a gambler does not exercise discipline and self-control, they end up getting addicted.
