Nigerian Languages / Re: POS Agents and Nigerian Banks
« on: April 30, 2025, 11:51:46 PM »

Well, the banks won't openly say so, but will like to enquire from you by experience, have you for ones gone to the bank and you want to make withdrawals and you're being told the certain amount that can be dispensed to you, that there is not enough cash available? This issue started during the cashless period we experienced in the country, and which is still on till date in banks. As for the ATM machines, it is only loaded with cash in the morning hours, and at that time, it will be crowded with people, and when the cash is emptied, reloading it up again becomes another problem.

I am not against the POS agents rendering their services, because it was through them, we could get cash during the cashless period, which through them, on several POS points they will say they buy money in the banks to get cash for their work.

Well, I can’t deny that I have never experienced this issue of not enough cash in the bank before or having to go to an ATM terminal only to discover that it wasn’t loaded and not dispensing cash.

A friend of mine once told me that this POS business has brought about cash shortages in banks because it was this money that those bankers issued to those requesting for withdrawals but now that there are POS everywhere and those who usually go to bank to deposit no longer go there instead they will take the money to their POS business especially those who are wealthy and have several POS stands at different locations.

Nigerian Languages / Re: Bitcoin as a method of Payment
« on: April 30, 2025, 11:17:11 PM »
Yes there is a possibility of it becoming a recognized method of payment for both the private and government sectors - but not something that we’re going to see very soon because the current government are not that well equipped with the right knowledge and personnel to help educate them about it; so for the current government we probably should take our mind off of it for now but when we finally gets someone who’s technologically grounded and knows the nitty gritty of this situation and how it can help improve the situation of the economy then we can see possibilities of it happening but for now - I think we should be more focused on Egbado.

It’s actually a very good idea to try and make changes to our current education system and include cryptocurrency as part of the curriculum and also other things that have become archaic - but the issue now is that the government are being greedy with salary because I’m sure that anyone who would want to take this class won’t agree with the current teacher salary and that would make them go for quacks like we have in most schools for most courses or lecturers - and in the end it will be the same thing, students will go to school and still not be able to get anything done in the real world.

Well, from what I know the banks are not stopping people from using the ATM terminal to make withdrawals - it’s just that we don’t have enough terminals to help reduce the queue and thus the reason why you see people patronizing those POS.

And just like every other busy that doesn’t need much expertise to start doing people saw the potential in it and delve right into it, I don’t know if the initial intention of the banks was to milk money off of people by providing this machine but I know people are actually making money from it and it’s also reducing the stress of having to wait in line at banks ATM terminals to make withdrawals.

It's the work of the leaders to ensure peace and harmony in a country. If the leaders are selfish, they wouldn't want peace so that the voice of the people wouldn't be one. This is the main reason why they empower the foolish youths with ammunitions to cause trouble and oppress them. They know this and that's why they don't care of creating jobs so that they can control the jobless and use them as their tools for power.

A leader that is hunger driven for power isn’t going to do anything once they get to power and that’s what happening in our country we all knew right from the onset that the president won’t do anything because of the way he did is campaign and if he could take such measures just to see himself in power what else do you think he won’t do to remain in power or silence those who would try to speak against him?

The reason why you still see some activist talk opening about the government and question his motives is because of the public if they were not known or didn’t have influence they won’t have had an opportunity to speak for the second time because they’ll go missing after the first period. Just like what was supposed to happen to that NYSC Corper.

Gambling discussion / Re: when do you “refill” your budget
« on: April 27, 2025, 10:58:49 PM »
Those who gamble regularly are more likely to become addicted to gambling. In most cases, it is seen that gamblers are addicted to gambling but they do not realize it. At some point, when a major disaster strikes, it becomes clear that the gambler has lost control of himself. That is why I must agree with you that those who do not take a temporary break from gambling will definitely move towards addiction.

Another thing that came to my mind was, those who refill their budget every week how do they manage to know what money that they won’t be needing in the next few months or weeks - to me weekly refilling makes room for mistakes with funds because in gambling we are always advices to gamble with what we can afford to lose and going into your gambling account on a weekly basis makes it more difficult to follow that principle except the gambler is really rich that they don’t need a huge sum of their money for anything else in their life.

The desire to avenge defeat will always be there and it will be followed when we cannot control ourselves well. It has become a very common story that someone loses big because they want to avenge defeat or they are chasing victory.

It should be a valuable lesson for anyone who has never experienced it, but usually people do not believe it if they do not experience it themselves.  ;D

One of the best ways to avoid chasing after losses is to make sure you only gamble with money that you can afford to lose - the moment you introduce money that was allocated for a different purpose into your gambling activities, you'll be more prone to chase after it if you happen to lose it.

In the past, I used to engage in this kind of stuff, but after learning about how dangerous it is and also how much danger it exposes you to, I was forced to learn the simple trick of only gambling with what I can afford to lose, and after a game, I should be ready to accept whatever the outcome is, whether good or bad.

I think I saw a post in the past that had a multiplier of up to 5500x multiplier - and that user was lucky enough to have used $0.1 on the bet which made him a good profit.
@Cantsay, I don't understand why you said the user was lucky enough to use $0.1 for betting. Do you mean to say the user was unlucky?
Just assume the user bet with $10 for such a big multiplier, what would have been the outcome. Although, I am not encouraging anyone to bet more than their capacity, but I find it weird to place a bet with such a small amount.

It’s slot games - I don’t think there are people here who go to slot games and start spinning with $10 on each turn - just 10 of them would have already removed $100 from your account (assuming you didn’t win any spin) and to spin for a long time you’d need a huge bankroll for them, so except you’re a high roller you really can’t support $10 on a single spin for a long period.

And the reason I said he was lucky was because he managed to put $0.1 - I know that it’s small compared to $10 but if you look at other players bet you see some who also got a decent win but with lower stakes than this user…

Gambling & Crypto Casinos / Re: Gambling is today's reality
« on: April 26, 2025, 11:27:49 PM »
Alot of youths in this 21st century tends to be making it through betting sites(gambling), therefore it's no longer news that gambling is one of the realities of today, alot of gambling sites offers a chance of gaining massive income through its game of probability, all one needs is the accurate information and data about the nature of gambling one is indulge in to accurately play it successfully.

It all looks and sounds easy peasy until you actually try to engage in it... Gambling can make you and also break you if you're not careful with the way you handle your gambling activities. Even with the right data, you still are not guaranteed to make it in gambling, and that's the major reason why you hear people advise others not to engage in gambling or take gambling as their only source of income. And if you're ever to gamble, you should only take it as a means of having fun and not a means to earn passively.

« on: April 26, 2025, 09:15:11 PM »
yup some people gamble every day for a few hours to me if you are responsible enough and can stop when needed then it will not develop into an addiction i have seen people refill their budget weekly because they might be heavy gamblers (of course within what they can afford) so i got curious which one really seems more helpful refilling budget weekly or monthly considering when you get your source of income

budgeting is a huge part of gambling after all especially if you want to play almost every day limiting yourself to a budget would take a lot and it will be quite a challenge to make sure you do not go through all your budget until your next refill

Addiction is something that builds up gradually - you won’t be able to tell that you’re getting addicted to something - it might feel as if it’s normal and that you’re just enjoying it just as you’ve always did meanwhile in reality you’re getting addicted to it and now you’re always looking for how to go into your gambling account.

That daily gambling whether it’s for just a few hours or even minutes isn’t really healthy to be honest — if you take breaks in between the weeks then it would be a lot better than having to log into your account every single day to gamble.

No need for justification here  the truth is always bitter. This is a situation of people taking advantage of events to undo their fellow citizens. It's just that the government agencies are not proactive otherwise most of these happenings wouldn't even exist. The agencies too have compromised their standards that they can not be able to prosecute marketers manipulating price of commodities. It is unfortunate the situation we find ourselves in this country.

If it was a country where the system was actually working the way it was supposed to work then all these issues of price manipulation whatsoever won’t have been happening. The government, regulatory agencies and those in production or distribution are all to blame for it.

If the government makes provision for stuffs those in production won’t have had any avenue to manipulate prices by blaming it on increment of production price and also if the cost of production was okay then the regulatory agencies would be able to regulate the prices of things in the market but for now if they do it most of the people selling would no longer be interested in some businesses because they might incur losses after calculating the cost of getting the goods (all charges included).

for gamblers, budget is the most important factor of keeping ourselves away from getting addicted or spending way too much all at once i am sure we have different approaches so i am curious to know how you budget your gambling money do you budget it by weekly or monthly? and how do you find each approach different? which one suits you better? and why?

I’m not a frequent gambler -  I am more of the once in a while gambling type of person so my gambling budget doesn’t really have a fixed schedule I might decide to play some casino games today and tomorrow and then take some time off gambling like a week or even more than that till I feel the urge to gamble again.

I see people say weekly and I’m kinda concerned if that doesn’t make them more prone to addiction? Because no matter how you’ll look at it gambling everyday exposes one to gambling addiction even if you’re gambling for fun or not; you’ll most likely want to just open your account and gamble for a bit if you’re the “everyday type” and that among the reasons why I don’t like refilling my budget steadily and just wait till I want to gamble before I make any deposit.

Make wejust tell ourselves the truth, na we dey do ourselves all these things. Demdey importpur water? abi na localproduced agricultural produce? abi dem dey import gari? abi na vegetable leaf dem dey import ?

Dem no really need to import Garri or other locally produced goods for am to dey expensive, most of our production processes dey dependent on some of those imported items and if the price of dollar or any other thing related to importation increase indirectly those locally produced goods supposed to increase too.

Although, some of them still dey wey no suppose increase but if farmers reason the cost of living and how much their products actually worth them gats increase am so that dem go fit meet end needs.
