Quite unusual to see Australia leading on medals table not only by number of gold medals, but by overall number of medals. I usually dont pay much attention to Australia

It's not unusual if you check the events that they won Gold. They are pretty good at swimming and they usually give the US a run for their money on these events.

Germany? It's usually just US and China dominating the medal table. Being the host country, Germany might compete against Australia and probably Japan.

There are still a lot of medals to be won so this is just the beginning and the positions may change as time goes on. But it is certainly a good start for Australia as they are leading the medal standings.

One of the sports I am looking forward to is football, there is no doubt that football is one of the sports that has a bigger fan base. Young players will be showing off their skills at this Olympics, and it is not impossible that we will see new young players who are being eyed by big teams.

I'm currently watching USA team basketball, and I'm going to say they should banned USA national basketball team from participating in the Olympics, they are just good with plethora of options too, perhaps they should only allow USA play with their rookies only because how can a team have Lebron, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Booker and Anthony Davis all in a single team, while Tatum, Edwards, Holiday, Haliburton and Bam Adebayo are also on the bench 🤯🤯🤯

I'm currently watching USA team basketball, and I'm going to say they should banned USA national basketball team from participating in the Olympics, they are just good with plethora of options too, perhaps they should only allow USA play with their rookies only because how can a team have Lebron, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Booker and Anthony Davis all in a single team, while Tatum, Edwards, Holiday, Haliburton and Bam Adebayo are also on the bench 🤯🤯🤯

I was never aware of Olympics basketball event limiting certain players or professionals from playing since I've started watching the Olympics, the only one rule I'm aware of is that of only players U23 years of age allowed in the male football part of the event with only 3 senior players being allowed per team.

It's not exactly limiting certain players but before, the Olympics was purely for amateur competitions for all sports. There was a change in leadership in IOC and only then did the commercialization started in the 80s. Pros were allowed because they were an easy sell to audiences watching televisions around the world. You could also imagine the excitement of live audiences watching Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson.

As well as they dont allow pros to participate, because it will imbalance audience. People will only watch games where super stars participate and would speculate with the tickets. With no pros, everyone has somehow equal fans support amount. With basketball it is different because of number of fans. Football is simply more popular than basketball. If they allow all stars to participate in football, it will turn "Olympic games" into "Olympic games football championship and the rest of the sport".

I really wish Morocco would make sure they qualify for the next round, after their win against Argentina, they then lost to Ukraine which put them in a quite trick situation, Argentina should be able to beat Ukraine to guarantee their own qualification as well, but Iraq defeated Ukraine in their opening game and that leaves all teams in the group with 3 points each, the best way to secure a place in the quarter finals now for Morocco is a win, a draw might now be enough. Since both team will be have 4 points and equal goals score and difference, I don't know what other criteria Olympics would apply in this certain to determine who goes to the next round.

In a few hours we will be seeing the game between Canada and Australia where the latter is the underdog @3.15. Though i have not put my bet yet but i'm more inclined on betting for the Aussies as i think they are a very live underdog. What do you think?

Not that bad to bet on the Aussie mate, just a couple of minutes ago I was looking for something to bet and I might go with the Aussie here, but probably +6.5 or +5.5 as it is good and appealing odds, 1.98. and 1.83.

Might be good to parlay it with the latter Japan vs France, as France is the huge favorite in this game.

Perhaps for some OG fans of Summer Olympics we might not watch this sports as obviously, it mostly youth playing this kind of "sports"

well our world is evolving and there are now many sports that did not exist before for example is esports it is not yet officially part of olympics but olympics has created a whole different project for that

and it made it's debut in the Youth Summer Olympics. Now it's a full blow sports and as much as for us, this might not be categorically called a "sports", but it has gather some momentum already and I think it could be one of the biggest and most watch.

i hope this can get more youngsters to watch and appreciate many sports and also support their respective countries in the process

That's a funny comment. Every country adds the best players to their national teams, and it's no surprise that the US team has such a strong roster because they have the NBA, i.e. the strongest league. In fact, their roster is an all-star team that can only be seen during the NBA all-star weekend. And it's their roster that attracts a lot of fans, and I think that is one of the reasons why many people watch basketball games at the Olympics.

Egypt win against Spain is the biggest surprise for me today in football Olympic tournament.
Spain finished in second place of Group C and they are playing against Japan who is very close to win the first place of Group D.
Argentina is playing against France but they didnt show anything special in Olympics and home team is favorite for me.

Is Olympic boxing as same corrupted as professional boxing? I dont get benefits of bribing judges. You get an Olympic medal in the end, but few know if there will be any kind of reward from your country. In professional it is clear why it is corrupted - big money are on stake. I am not much familiar with betting on specific sport, but do people place bets on it? I mean do casinos really add those huge tables of all boxing fights during Olympic games for betting?

I personally don't play sportsbet online but was only made possible by my neighbors and friends who wants to try luck when choosing sides of the league but unfortunately for me right now I am not able to gamble because it's late at dawn right now though one of our female boxer won against the Indian boxer but unfortunately on the mens division we lost it so if I bet against my neighbors it would be just a 50/50 for me.
