As of now, the China leads in the medal table with 39 gold medals won, only one above the 2nd United States.
But if we consider all the medals won (gold, silver and bronze), the USA has 123 compared to China's 90.

It's always been these two countries in the past 2 or 3 Olympics. USA still have a chance to tie with China's Gold count and come out as the overall winner because they have more medals won. They have Women's basketball Finals which is like a guaranteed win for them.

USA's athletics team really made the difference this time. If their rivals like Jamaica snatched one or two Golds, China would likely emerge as the overall victor.

FRANCE AGAINST SPAIN in the men's gold medal final match...

Spain were lucky, they almost lost the game because all their three goal advantage was swallowed by France to take the game to extra time. The Spanish coach was lucky he could still win because taking out Fermin Lopez really reduced Spain's attacking-threat.

Spain was able to win France with a 5-3 victory after France was able to equalize two goals to balance the score line. During the extra time of the match France were more focus ON equalizing the fourth goal which gave Spain the opportunity to score their last minute goal to seal up their victory by Sergio Camello. Spain won the Euros and now Spain won the Olympics medal. What a good record for Spain this year.

Spain has a good record in the world of football; they have been dominant in this year's football tournament, winning the trophy of the world women's tournament, under 17 men's tournament, the Euro tournament, and lastly, the Olympics.

This year seems to be a good year record for Spain in football. They have won the trophies of the matches they were involved in. Congrats to them

Well... you are one of those who looks at results and not games, for your information, I was very young but I had the good fortune of seeing the real dream team play, so that reference of whether I saw last season is funny.

Man, Serbia was dominating the whole game, and the last quarter was a disaster, but even their good lead even took them to be only 3 minutes away from achieving the feat.

And in the Final as mentioned above, if Curry had not had the game that France had, he would have given them a good scare.

I recommend that before giving light opinions, you base yourself on real readings.

it is because they have more medals and they have more players on the podium all through out the season compared to china

usa was also the first in the last olympics in tokyo with china running second i am sure china would want to aim for more in the next olympics so it should be exciting

i would also want to congratulate all the countries that participated some countries are not as rich as the ones in the top 10 thus they have less funding for their athletes and less space and equipments to train but some of them still managed to win a few medals so cheers to all the athletes!

It's going to be very difficult though for China to topple US as the next Olympics will be in Los Angeles, so the home court advantage will be on the USA team. Although there will be a lot of competitions from here before the next Olympics, so there is a still a good gauge on how China will performed in the next Olympics.

Although in the beginning of this Olympics, there are a lot of controversies, but in the end, it was all good with Tom Cruise, and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog in the closing ceremonies. So I would say that it's a success and I do also congrats those nation who won medals specially first time countries that might have won their golds in this Paris Olympics.
