It is unfortunate that all this is happening in France, which has always been a symbol of freedom in the world.

Durov is currently on trial, but I have not heard any new news. Everyone is waiting for the results of the trial because it will have very influential consequences for the market, Telegram and its coin TON.

If Durov is released, TON and the tokens on its network will definitely see a huge increase, and this is true, but the consequences will be greater for Telegram and the crypto companies that use the platform if Durov is convicted.

France is not the symbol of freedom, Macron denied the result of election which even today he still act as the president which he is not.  and if Macron was the one that was to meet Durov that day and then Durov got arrested after, i'm sure you can come up with what happened in their discussion that went south. seeing Macron can even denied the election result, i don't see why he won't be doing more than that.

This is a landmark case, and this early it picture France as a country with an oppressive president, and this is bad for the reputation of a country considered a bastion of freedom in the old days.

Any country can arrest Durov but not France, Macron do not represent his country's legacy. I see the world pressuring Macron to drop all the charges and let Durov leave France.

The news mention this arrest is due to telegram messaging feature. But who knows whether French government will bring TON as additional excuse to arrest him. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

The arrest was really due to the accusations related to Telegram what would politics have to do with his arrest? According to current news he has been bailed out by paying a hefty fine although it's probably not hefty for him.

Russia is behind his arrest because he refused to agree to their demands and fled the country back in 2014. There are reports that he went to France because he wanted to show off to her, which was so idiotic of him to do. There is a chance that this girl is working with the cops. It's unclear, but why would a billionaire without any preparation step into a country where he knows he will be arrested?

I don't think that this case is ending anytime soon and it will be interesting to see the end of it, will Durov go to jail in France because of activities perpetrated by others in his platform and what does this mean to other people who also own messaging apps.

I have never weighed in to the telegram app CEO arrest and the drama behind it, but I think this should not be a winch Hunt to his personality because there are some obvious facts that are pointed out in the platform. The fraud, child porn and the rest of them. I am not against Telegram or its CEO but I know that that platform is highly unregulated in terms of scam. Infact, I and others had nicknamed telegram to be the scammers den.
I want the platform to be nice but not overly censored like facebook.

I don't know what time are you talking about? Why would France be a symbol of freedom more than Germany, Denmark or Poland or some other country of the European Union? As far as I know, millions of migrants live in France and they have all possible rights, the police don't walk the streets and beat women and children, freedom of speech is guaranteed to everyone, even those who use that freedom of speech for purposes that I find extremely unacceptable, whether it's about mocking Islam, or Christianity, as was the case at the Olympics.

An agreement is probably the best action to take in this case, which will include how Durov will run telegram going forward. However, he could also go to court and prove himself to be not guilty of all charges, i don't know how the judicial system works in France, but i am pretty sure it is fair, so Durov might also prove his case of not being guilty as charged in court.

It really divided the world right now, others see Durov as freedom fighter and France a authoritative nation that can do everything at their power if they want to arrest anyone.

I hope they come to an agreement because this would be a good solution to the problem for everyone, Durov would be released and get rid of the charges and France would get rid of the media and international pressure it is under with minimal damage.

The biggest question is if France ignore all the pressure and proceeds with convicting Durov what could be the scenario, its going to be bad for the Telegram messaging application and it will have an impact on the industry and on the part of France, it will portray themselves as a tyrant .

There's also a possibility that they will convict Durov and, after two years, pardon him and deport him.

It's just very weird that France was arrested him. I mean if Durov knows that there are court order from French government that he will be arrested, then why he flew on that country? And if some entity has problems with Telegram for what they deem "facilitating terrorism, drug sales, and fraud by refusing to moderate communications between Telegram users", then why not file a against Durov?

Whenever the government would be denying that something is not a political move, in most cases it is. Maybe France actually do not care the rule of the law...the thing is to file a case in court and have Durov respond to the case so he can be tried fairly and not be prosecuted just because he is the founder of a platform the government maybe don't like to their bones. I am hoping for the resolution of this case as there is a big pressure on the French government to do what is right and to follow the procedures in lawful manner.

There is news that Dubai has canceled a multi-billion-dollar jet deal with France. The media is claiming that this happened after the arrest of Pavel Durov, a Dubai citizen, and that they ended the deal because they were unhappy with how he was treated. Really? Is it that easy to end deals just because of a citizen?
