Senator voting count & discussion

Why aren't the candidates allowed to present their programs first, what exactly do they plan to do if they are elected... Some open debates... People should know who they are voting for and why.

Senate, as far as I understand,  can vote and discuss forum changes before they are implemented.

I think they can also make proposals for forum changes.

If I can, I will try to make a proposal for a forum boards organization.

Voters should already be aware of proposals that have been made in the suggestion box. I did suggest this idea before ironically but scrapped it as it would just take longer and delay the election. Also in general reps say what they will do if elected, and rarely fulfil such promises, so better to go on what candidates have already proposed and supported, rather than what they say they will I think. You were otherwise welcome to appeal to voters with your proposals in this thread, as bitmover has done above, I will link the posts for you from the count in OP.

I voted a little too quickly, I only saw later that senators can have a significant influence on the development of the forum and the implementation of new things. I'd rather see bitmover here instead of Jokers, he showed more commitment to that in the previous period. However, the others made up for it, so it seems to be going in the right direction. 

This validates Phil's concern that votes should be edited, which I strongly support. One should be able to change their votes till the last day of votes collection. Anything less than this could be going against Freedom of voting.
If we are talking about development of the forum, there's a user who has tried alongside bitmover in this aspect, I think his username is PX-Z.

I'm not going to cross-reference every vote to check it still stands when updating the count, this would just be a massive waste of my time.

Voted, but I have no idea if those senators will listen anything we as a members say and I don't even know about ideas they have, maybe they can go rouge and remove the admin from power.
I think maybe we rushed things with voting, I would first ask for potential candidates if they would accept the job, and than have longer voting process, not just one week.

Voting admin out of power will be tricky if not possible, overturning his recent decisions on quality index should be less difficult 

In the past all candidates have accepted the role, as it is an honour to be elected as a senator, so there should be few concerns here.

Similar to 2021 election voting process is one week, as is based on the most active users. Not those who visit for the forum less than weekly...

Many initiatives have been launched around the arrangement of the forum, changes or proposals for the implementation of some useful things. Unfortunately, there was always too little response from other users. It's as if most of them only come to leave a few posts and are not interested in anything else.
We should probably have a better system for notifying users when some important things are being discussed.

The senate is another element of the power share ... this power share is not ideal between president, me and the senate , but it is still way better than almost any other forum.
and with time things improve ... they say Rome was not built in 1 day.
The senate have a an important role, voting on proposals, overturning decisions (mine, or even the president's) and discussing important aspects of the forum, or even resolving major issues and conflicts within closed doors.
They are usually voted because of their character not their program,
just take a look at the top 2 most voted, you'll know these guys really put a lot of heart to help the community

There is a huge difference in understanding the forum between natives here and teleported members. Hopefully, bitmover could bring in some fresh blood and shake things up if elected.

for the record, i have always multitasked and worked on other stuff.

but also changes requested by the community were often executed,
unless these changer require code modification, in this case, there is a list of needed changes that need to wait because:
coding a new functionality is not easy,
it requires me to block several days if not more,
and when it works there are often conflicts with other parts of the code that are not identified easily, and that create a mess later on to fix.

currently on the test version of the site, there are several changes that are being tested, and only few might eventually make it to the live site.

concerning the news site, it's a strategic long term plan, that is essential for the forum growth (yes, i do sometimes do long term planning  )
once all the elements of the puzzle will be placed, it might make more sense.

Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but this could just be due to time on the forum which gains experience. For example around 90% of the questions in Basic questions about the forum section (coming from recently teleported members) have been asked many times before over the years. The only reason "native" members don't ask them anymore is because they know the answer by now. Personally I've noticed the distinct difference in understanding from members this year compared to previous ones, which reflects the influx of new members.

That said there is still a lot of cleaning up needed to help members with understanding the forum, this was probably better structured and organised in previous years if I'm honest. A lot of info topics have stood up to the test of time, but others are simply outdated or there is newer info available which contradicts a previous topic, so this can often lead to confusion. I've made a start on updating where needed but there is a lot more needed to be done imo. Ideally someone would assist with from more of an "outside" perspective and point to topics that require updates (ie pinned topics by admin, or my own for example) as don't even know where to start anymore. The forum token topics remain the biggest mess of them all, with old and new token information contradicting each other etc.

Hopefully, bitmover could bring in some fresh blood and shake things up if elected.

This is never a bad thing, fresh blood is always good to bring about fresh initiatives, even if the senate will remain majority older members. As admin also elaborated on there have been numerous changes made to the forum since it's creation (some through the senate, others via suggestion box), so it's understandable that newer members aren't aware of this. There have probably been less changes this year than previous ones which might misrepresent the situation a bit here.

I meant other things like disrespecting and not understanding the forum rules. So 9 out of 10 cases of spam, multiaccounting, abusing karma etc... come from old Altt users, not from Teleported.
Also, participation in signature campaigns, complaints of 'why wasn't I accepted', as well as a complete lack of understanding of the essence of the campaign and what is expected of the participants. It's certainly not just a number.

I agree that teleported members are better quality users compared to original members, due to better understanding general forum etiquette, bounties, etc, there's no doubt about that.

But otherwise it's the newer members that have always lacked a deeper understanding of the forum, and this year that comes from teleported members it seems.

Not just teleported members, but older members too. There has been broad agreement in the senate about this problem hence changes have been made in the past to improve it.

I also think it will be easier in the senate to make these changes, as long as proposals are simple and well structured as they have been in the past. For example by breaking up more complicated or detailed proposals into parts so senators can agree/disagree on say 1-10 suggestions without having to support or reject an entire proposal for restructuring. So for example:

1. Merge these child boards into the parent board
2. Merge this section with that section
3. Move this section to this that category

Then senators are able to vote yes/no on the proposals one by one. The problem with a full blown proposal to restructure the forum is that there will always be counter-proposals, additions to the proposal, disagreements within the proposal, and it becomes a messy job trying to understand the support for different parts of the proposal without making notes. This is what I call the "noise of the suggestion box" which otherwise is usually avoided in the senate by having less participants in each discussion orientated around voting.

I think a big point here is that the managers also teleported. So we are basically seeing the campaigns from btt here. We are used to those managers and campaigns,  especific forum etiquette,  etc , they are not..
