At least, let ethereum make it to all-time high. Its all-time high was almost $4900 but it is still at $3125. A coin that do not get to all-time high is not good to hold in long term.

Wait for BTC dom to fall off and look at SOL and ETH again - I think you won't be disappointed.
For now, all eyes are on BTC still.

That would be for short term investment. But OP asked of long term investment. I prefer a coin that will give all-time high at the appropriate time just like bitcoin. Solana tried by giving huge return and it is close to all-time high which is $260. But generally I will still prefer an asset like bitcoin. If the bull run continue, ethereum may increase further but it can be at the late period towards the bear market. Maybe the bear market is going to be massive on such coins.

As a matter of facts, investments on crypto assets requires patience, and it is a probability that once you take a buy position price may Dump immediately but because some holders, investors are not patience, they sell due to fear. One thing is certain on the cryptocurrency economy, and that is the fact that once you sell when prices is dropping, or bearish, because of fear, you have lost.
When prices of crypto assets goes down, it does not signify that the coin/tokens will go to zero. unfortunately, many new investors, traders are emotionally inclined with such negative mindset of a total price crash, or a dump to zero. it is not good to be too emotional as a trader or an Investor, to avoid selling at loss often.

The network you are investing in matters alot and your approach towards the investment matters a lot too. For coins aside bitcoin I wouldn't really recommend investing in them in the form of Hodling especially for long term because of the nature of their volatility in a negative way. People who are in steady profit or have been in steady profit for a long time now are those that bought below the 2.1k mark.
However if you are good at trading and understand market dynamics properly, trading ethereum with a nice capital and leverage would put you in huge profit far more than Ethereum hodling would it's all about risk to reward ratio and span of investment.

I don't really know how traders makes alot of profits in trading Ethereum, except they are doing it in a very large amount. Ethereum doesn't have this bullish momentum unlike the others that we've seen recently. So, I think if anyone wants to go into Ethereum trading, then it is best to have it in a large quantity or at least, a reasonable amount that can yield profits when trading. And for those that chooses to hodl, they might also want to hodl a reasonable amount so as to get a better profit in the future.

Well, Ethereum has its unique selling point and more so because of its growing ecosystem rapidly. These are really special times on the market in which we can make a turnover or even begin with a constant minimum of investment. Actually I am a long term holder for Ethereum investment. I've been buying and holding an Ethereum for a long time now for over a year and a half I haven't profited relatively as long as I've held my Ethereum as you can see by comparing it to the current Bitcoin price. At the time I bought and held Ethereum the price of Bitcoin was around $35,000 to $45,000 and if I had invested in Bitcoin instead of buying Ethereum, I would have been much more successful in my investment today. I'm very disappointed right now investing in Ethereum because my investment hasn't grown much. At this time the price of Ethereum should have been around 10 thousand dollars according to the price of Bitcoin. While Bitcoin reached around $99,000, Ethereum could not touch $3,500. Here I am most disappointed with holding Ethereum for a long time. If I had traded regularly than holding, I could have taken much more profit, but I stayed away from trading as I did not have much experience in trading.

I'll bet for Solana on this it is because of it's performance in the first quarter this year where memecoins soar high and still we are on the same track and Sol is also way more cheaper and promises much more profit than holding Ethereum.

I seem to agree with you, all focus is on BTC now and it's price is still appreciating, I guess when BTC gets to it's highest peak and tend to start dropping in price, most Investors will sell off and likely start purchasing other ALTS.
And also when the ALTs season begins we will see a new ATH of ETH and other top ALTS and even memecoins.
As for me, I have some fractions of ETH on HODL and likely I hope it will increase in price in the nearest duration.

Well, if you're a long-term holder and if you want to hold an altcoin then Ethereum for me would be the best option.

I don't invest in altcoins because I am a bitcoin enthusiast. However, Etherum will grow in the long run but it will be very slow and not as fast as bitcoin. We already have Etherum ETF and that shows that more investors will continue buying Etherum overtime. The reason why I don't want to invest in Etherum is because it's centralized and can be manipulated by the dev.

No dude, the circulating or the total supply of etherium coin wasn't that much high the current total supply of etherium coin is only 120.44 million at least it is far better I mean less from the other like who were in the billions Category.
Like if Something about the BNB then is has 144.01 million supply. Actually I don't have any problem with their current circulating supply I have only problem with the infinity maximum supply. Because it can make inflation on the Ethereum market.

I know this is an old post and I am replying late too but.
It's not about ETH alone, because every coin can go down it's not for sure that when you will invest it have to go up. Every coin can go up can down, if you want to hold it then make sure you hold it for a longer period of time. For example in December, ETH hit $4k and many thought it won't be available again in $3.6k to 3.8k price range but it was available.
So the point is there are many who bought it at $4k and there are many who have bought it at $2.5k. I have seen it on the price of 2500 but did not bought it, now I am planning to buy it because IMO for the long run like for 3 months to 6 months it can hit 2x from the current price but it's NFA so DYOR.

It's not about ETH alone, because every coin can go down it's not for sure that when you will invest it have to go up. Every coin can go up can down, if you want to hold it then make sure you hold it for a longer period of time. For example in December, ETH hit $4k and many thought it won't be available again in $3.6k to 3.8k price range but it was available.
So the point is there are many who bought it at $4k and there are many who have bought it at $2.5k. I don't really know how traders makes alot of profits in trading Ethereum, except they are doing it in a very large amount. Ethereum doesn't have this bullish momentum unlike the others that we've seen recently. So, I think if anyone wants to go into Ethereum trading, then it is best to have it in a large quantity or at least, a reasonable amount that can yield profits when trading. Bitcoin and Ethereum are not much different? I don't disagree with you that both are the most successful coin in cryptospace Bitcoin is the number one position and the second one is Ethereum.
But there are lots of different between them like the etherium market cap is only 467.67 billion and on the others and Bitcoin market cap is 2.07 trillion that's mean Bitcoin market cap 4x+ time larger than the etherium market. And about the price Bitcoin is 26x+ more than Ethereum. Both are the best but not same.

Ethereum is not better than meme coins. How can it be dumping faster than some coins that were listed some days ago and to say that it didn't follow Bitcoin to perform very well. Ethereum used to be the next coin that even XRP was competing against back then but look at it right now, it is struggling to pass its previous all time high.
If there is anything I'm ever going to do right now, I will put my money in Bitcoin if I'm to do a DCA than put my money in Ethereum that will be stuck and dump later.

The network you are investing in matters alot and your approach towards the investment matters a lot too. For coins aside bitcoin I wouldn't really recommend investing in them in the form of Hodling especially for long term because of the nature of their volatility in a negative way. People who are in steady profit or have been in steady profit for a long time now are those that bought below the 2.1k mark.
However if you are good at trading and understand market dynamics properly, trading ethereum with a nice capital and leverage would put you in huge profit far more than Ethereum hodling would it's all about risk to reward ratio and span of investment.
